US President Trump is mutating into a historical icon. The US head of government has been compared or even equated with the ancient Persian king Cyrus on several occasions. The release of the ancient people of Judah from Babylon was followed by the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. This is likely the main reason for creating so much fuss about Trump, who is becoming a cult figure.

Something always sticks
Just as mud is repeatedly thrown at someone in order to defame them, even when the truth is actually obvious, something always sticks to them. In such a case, it almost never goes beyond the accusation of a misdemeanor; nothing is proven, but it doesn’t matter. The main thing is that you can add insult to injury, even years later, by emphasizing that the “accusation hangs over them.” Given how undifferentiated society has become today, this quickly amounts to a guilty verdict.
This trick also seems to work for elevating a candidate. Introduce a proposed attribute, no matter how absurd, once and simply repeat it often enough. Then, even longer pauses are welcome; the foundation has already been laid. Another wave for the given occasion, one remembers, and soon more and more people join the club of believers. At some point, a momentum of its own develops, and the pressure of the (supposed) majority ensures the desired influx.
Trump and the Persian King

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly been compared to the ancient Persian King Cyrus. In 2016, Trump was elevated to the position of the former world empire ruler, who is primarily remembered for allowing the people of Judah to return home after 70 years of exile in Babylon. Cyrus is considered the liberator and savior of the people of Israel. There is even a shekel coin bearing the image of Trump and Cyrus.
In March 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House in the US and, in his speech, recalled the “long memory of the Jewish people.” They can remember the great King Cyrus. The Jewish people also remember that President Trump had recognized the city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel just a few weeks earlier.
Evangelical author Lance Wallnau quoted Trump as saying at a faith event in October 2024, “Thus says the Lord to Cyrus, whom I have anointed.” Wallnau referred to Trump as an anointed one.
On October 10, the “Friends of Zion Museum” set out to resurrect Cyrus the Great. Or rather, they reincarnated him into Donald Trump. They even went to great lengths to do so, installing neon signs and publishing their vision on social media. The striking “good news” is: “Cyrus the Great lives!”
Trump last delivered a speech to Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, on October 13. Earlier, Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana hailed the US president as a “giant of Jewish history” comparable to Cyrus the Great.
Trump’s recent rise to prominence is a result of the outcome of the negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Numerous Israelis held hostage in Gaza have since been released.
Returning home was step 1 of 2

King Cyrus not only allowed the freed Judeans to return home, but also gave his blessing for the rebuilding of Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem, which had been destroyed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar. And the wind seems to be blowing from precisely this corner. The construction of the (ominous) Third Temple, for which, in addition to Orthodox Jews, a whole roster of Evangelicals are now eagerly awaiting.
With the Temple, the sacrificial service would then resume. The first red heifers have long been in place, and “test burnt offerings” have already been offered to usher in the “Messianic Age” (Info).

For neither a pre-rapture nor a 1,000-year, messianic, peace-filled kingdom on earth are part of the gospel. The Bible has something completely different to say about this “millennium” (Info).
It can also be Constantine

Less Persian, but more Roman, is the Greek Orthodox Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Archdiocese of America. In March 2025, after an invitation to the White House, the cleric spoke about his impressions of the US president. He said he reminded him of “Saint Constantine the Great” because of the “Christian values” that Trump represents.
At least chronologically, it would easily work that both “Great Kings” are united in Trump. Cyrus the Great lived between approximately 590 and 530 BC. Constantine the Great walked this earth between approximately 270 and 337 AD.
Another “Great King” would still go
The Medo-Persian Empire is the second world empire according to Daniel’s vision in the Book of Daniel, chapter 7. The preceding empire was Babylon. Medo-Persian was followed by Greece, and with Alexander, another “Great King” sat on the throne. This world empire, in turn, was succeeded by Rome. First, it was a tribune of the people, a republic, then an empire (Augustus, Caesar). From this Roman Empire emerged the “little horn” (Daniel 7:8) and ultimately formed the papacy. The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 457 AD, and the papacy rose in a smooth transition.
So that the “little horn” could also claim a “Great King” as its figurehead, the Frankish king Charlemagne came at just the right time. He conquered and “unified” Central Europe under Catholicism in service to the papacy and has also been remembered as a “Great King” to this day. Charlemagne was crowned emperor by Pope Leo III in 800.
What follows? After all, according to the sequence (Revelation 17), the seventh beast is currently in power, and this will remain “only for a short time.” Before the eighth beast takes over, which will be one of the previous six beasts, it would be appropriate to add a next “Great King” to the history books. “Trump the Great” would certainly have been a splendid addition.
After all, the “beast from the earth” (Revelation 13) also wants to be represented “decently” (Info).
A discrepancy perhaps?
Perhaps someone is wondering how it is possible that the four beasts according to Daniel 7 and ultimately the seven (+1) beasts according to Revelation 17 are of satanic origin, installed by the adversary for his own purposes and fulfillment, but that one of these kings, Cyrus, is designated by God as His anointed one.
After all, these ancient world empires always had the purpose of destroying God’s people.

This says nothing less than that God has everything under control, despite the adversary’s “toiling, waving, raging, and fury.” Satan can only carry his affairs as far as God allows. And one can rest assured that God’s justice is always preserved. Either God allows it, or He simply reverses it.
As in small things, so in large things. An example is the wayward prophet Balaam. He was hired by the Moabite king Balak to curse the people of Israel. It took more than one attempt, but in the end, instead of a curse, a blessing always came upon the people (Numbers 22). With Babylon, God chose its destruction; with Medo-Persia, this ended with Cyrus’ “reversal.”
Only as God wills it
It simply happens as God wills it, and everything else, be it promises, assurances, and assurances from any officials, rulers, or those in Roman episcopal robes, is ultimately irrelevant. What God has revealed to us about His plans can be read. The call to this is already in the first chapter of Revelation (Info).
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
