Project 2025 is only a niche media presence, as the machinery behind the scenes seems to be well-oiled and already getting into gear. With the government shutdown, US President Donald Trump is clearly showing his ambition to implement the program for numerous restructuring measures “in passing.”

It’s better in silence
For some time, things have been relatively quiet around the topic of “Project 2025” in the USA. The program, which was largely developed by the Heritage Foundation and presented in 2023 and has the potential to completely transform US society in numerous aspects, contains a similarly “tiny passage” in its nearly 890-page position paper on the handling of Sunday in relation to the world of work. It also contains the term “Sabbath,” which, however, is explicitly defined as “Sunday” within the framework of Project 2025 (Info).
During the 2024 election campaign, US President Donald Trump announced that he had heard of Project 2025, but he explicitly distanced himself from it and insisted he had nothing to do with this government restructuring program. Well, that may or may not be true, but that’s irrelevant, because in the end, the outcome is always what matters. Whatever Trump’s true starting position may have been, at least Project 2025 is now a topic for the US president.
Implementation of Project 2025 underway

In the “shadow” of the government shutdown, meaning the lights of the government are officially on standby, Trump and his team are considering in the background how some structures could be improved to save costs now and in the future. Project 2025 also offers suggestions for this, and Trump is visibly impressed. While the talk is still of temporary measures, the rule is that many “emergency decrees” gradually become permanent fixtures.
In addition to savings through, for example, the release of civil servants, the paper also describes strategies to significantly expand the president’s power. Such an idea could be seen in the National Guard troops deployed to various cities in different states. Recently, the metropolis of Chicago, Illinois, received an uninvited visit from Trump’s “clean-up squad.”
It’s safe to assume that page 589 of the position paper received a bookmark. Because, as in Europe, especially the EU, a kind of Sunday alliance has formed in the US, which is entirely in line with the vision of Project 2025. The requirement to keep Sundays free from work, with a few exceptions, is mandatory. Otherwise, wage deductions (at least for now) are threatened.
Sunday organizations USA & Canada

At the forefront is “The Lord’s Day Alliance,” founded in 1888. This organization is closely linked to the “People for Sunday Association of Canada.” This would cover the entire North American continent. Its denominations include Baptists, Catholics, Episcopalians, Friends’ Churches, Lutherans, Methodists, Orthodox, Presbyterians, Reformed, and even non-denominational churches.
These organizations advocate for the special protection of the “Lord’s Day,” which should take place on the first day of the week, i.e., Sunday. Their self-designation as “First-Day Sabbatarians” creates the apparently desired confusion. This, however, is doubly wrong from a biblical perspective, since the day of rest prescribed by God is the 7th day, i.e., Saturday, and the “Lord’s Day” was still the 1st day of the week. This remained true until the Church of Rome decided to simply change it in the course of the 3rd or 4th century (Info).
Since the birth of the “Blue Law”
The founding year of 1888 seems particularly interesting here, as it is the year in which Sunday law was only narrowly missed being introduced in the USA. Since then, the so-called “Blue Laws” have hung unchanged like the sword of Damocles over the heads of US citizens. This body of legislation has never truly been shelved, but has always existed in a state of quasi-permanent readiness.
However, individual states, which have enacted such mandatory Sunday observance at their own level, provide an idea of what a nationwide implementation of a Sunday law might look like (Info).
Is this actually relevant?
Why is it so important whether the special day of rest is observed on Saturday or Sunday? It’s obvious, because the 7th day of the week, which according to our current calendar falls between sunset on Friday and sunset on Saturday, was established by God for the completion of His creation (Genesis 2:2-3) and re-emphasized this day as the Fourth Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11). A change to the 1st day of the week, Sunday, was made out of tradition, with the justification of wanting to celebrate the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ separately.
It would have been no problem to also commemorate the Day of the Resurrection, but the Church Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church did not stop there. Following the legislation of Emperor Constantine in 321, they also introduced this Sunday as church law and also prohibited the observance of the biblical Sabbath (Info). This has been maintained to this day, even by the Protestant churches. A persistent disregard for God’s Fourth Commandment.
Like ancient Rome

Historically, the “great problems” for ancient Rome began with the introduction of Sunday law. First, the Western Roman Empire fell (471), and Constantinople, the capital of the remaining Eastern Roman Empire, did not experience truly long periods of peace until 1451, when this metropolis, too, was taken over by the invading Ottomans and renamed Istanbul. Individual cornerstones of this development are also described by the so-called 7 trumpets in the “classical” prophetic view (Info).
The United States, along with the rest of the world, will also encounter such adversities when the Sunday law spills over the Pacific and Atlantic into other global regions. The “beast from the earth” will do precisely what the “beast from the sea” demands of it (Info).
It will be very restless
One can safely assume that after the introduction of the sure-to-come Sunday law, things will get truly uncomfortable, especially for those who adhere to God’s law and not the dictates of Roman tradition. For this Sunday law represents nothing less than the mark of the beast (Info).
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
