Prayer to Archangel Michael – What Catholicism looks like

Archangel Michael

Deutsch

A mystical prayer with a mysterious origin. The prayer to the Archangel Michael. A staple in the Church of Rome, recited after a Mass. Much “magic and reverence,” but clear evidence that Catholicism doesn’t care about the Gospel.

Church of Rome – breeding ground of legends

What is not contained in the Bible, but is nevertheless sold as “assured truth,” has simply come into being in a “mystical way.” A specialty of the Roman Catholic Church. This also applies to the “legendary origin” of the prayer to Michael the Archangel. A significant figure in the Church of Rome. Indeed, according to the Gospel, Michael is of great power and importance, but of a completely different nature than how he is portrayed and treated by the papacy.

The prayer to Michael the Archangel originated with Pope Leo XIII and, in its short version, is used after a Mass, and in its long version for exorcism. The prayer to venerate Michael the Archangel was expressly called for by the previous Pope Francis at the end of September 2020. (Source).

Mysterious origin

Pope Vision
An ‘enlightening’ vision

According to Church legend, Pope Leo XIII wrote the prayer after celebrating Mass. He stared motionless and rigidly before him, finally disappeared into his private chambers, and emerged again half an hour later, along with the completed prayer to Archangel Gabriel.

What inspiration Leo XIII received, or from whom, seems to have been unclear to the writers of the legends. One version tells of demonic forces surrounding Rome. Another version tells of Leo overhearing a conversation between God and Satan. According to this version, God allowed the adversary to choose a century in which to fulfill his worst desires. Satan chose the 20th century.

The short version Prayer Archangel Michael

At the official level, the prayer to Archangel Michael has been recited since around 1885 as part of the “Leonine Prayers” after Mass, with the following wording:

Holy Michael, the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God cast into hell
Satan and all the evil spirits
who wander through the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Indeed, this “prayer” could actually come from the “other side,” but with the roles reversed, in keeping with the motto: “Let evil be good and good be evil” (Isaiah 5:20). It must be taken into account that the Roman Catholic Church actually considers the Archangel Michael to be a created, heavenly being. There are also a whole series of other archangels, even though the Bible describes only one archangel, Michael. (Info).

And anyway: Who should be worshipped?

What is particularly clear, however, and not addressed at all, is the fact of praying to anything other than God alone! Regardless of who Michael actually is, Catholic doctrine worships angels.

Clear Bible statements

Bible in light
In the light of the Bible

John, who received the revelation in visions, fell down before an angel to worship him. The angel answered as follows:
See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God” (Revelation 19:10)

John again fell down before the angel and the angel answered repeatedly:
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” (Revelation 22:9)

Three angels follow one after the other with a warning message to the people according to Revelation 14. The first angel had, among other things, the following admonition:
Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” (Revelation 14:7)

Straightforwardly against the First and Second Commandments

The First Commandment, “You shall have no other gods before me,” could be further weakened by claiming that Archangel Michael is not a god at all, so that fits.

However, anyone who only reads the brochures and teaching materials of the Roman Church, or relies on the statements of their priest, but does not study the Bible themselves, may be unfamiliar with the following excerpt from the 10 Commandments of God:
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:” (Exodus 20:4-5)

The “Prayer to Archangel Michael” contradicts the attempted justification that one is not worshipping, but merely venerating. This applies especially to Mary. She, too, is not truly worshipped, but merely venerated and asked for her intercession.

They know this very well themselves!

This is not an error or an oversight, but a deliberately taught contradiction to the Gospel. The Church of Rome knows exactly what it actually does and teaches. It is clearly stated in the “Catholic Encyclopedia” (1904), page 153.

The Supreme Law-Giver begins by proclaiming His name and His Titles to the obedience of the creature man: ‘I am the Lord, thy God …’. […] Being the one true God, He alone is to be adored, and all rendering to creatures of the worshop which belongs to Him falls under the ban of His displeasure; the making of ‘graven things’ is condemned: not all pictures, images, and works of art, but such as are intended to be adored and served.

Yes, they skulk around, the evil spirits who seek to corrupt souls. And they also have a home with numerous “secondary residences.” Their main building, however, is in Rome. (Info).

Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Revelation 18:2-3
