Pope Leo XIV emphasizes 7th-day Sabbath – Conversion? No!

Sabbath-Sign

In his address during a general audience, Pope Leo XIV caused a surprise. The Pontiff emphasized the seventh-day Sabbath as a day of completed creation, a sign of humanity’s redemption, and a day of rest. Perhaps conversion? Ironic, far from it, for the papacy always remains the papacy; otherwise, it wouldn’t be the papacy.

A small exception

It’s not often that one can call on Catholics to listen carefully to the words of their “Holy Pope” in Rome, because he doesn’t (exclusively) proclaim the dogmas of the Roman Church, but actually has a decent amount of truth on his tongue. At the very least, it’s important to be very selective and cherry-pick from the Pontiff’s statements those that represent the Gospel.

7th-day Sabbath at the center of the speech

Sabbath-4
The 7th Day Papal Theme

The Pontiff focused on Holy Saturday. In Italian, it is unequivocally referred to as “Sabato Santo.” The Pope’s introductory words were:

In our journey of catechesis on Jesus our hope, today we will contemplate the mystery of Holy Saturday. The Son of God lies in the tomb. But this “absence” of his is not emptiness: it is expectation, a restrained fullness, a promise kept in the dark. It is the day of the great silence, in which the sky seems mute and the earth immobile, but it is precisely there that the deepest mystery of the Christian faith is fulfilled. It is a silence laden with meaning, like the womb of a mother who carries her unborn but already living child.

Leo highlights Saturday as a day of rest

God blessed and sanctified the seventh day to complete His work (Genesis 2:2-3). Therefore, the 7th day of the week is inextricably linked to God’s creation as a whole.

Sabbath – The Day of Rest

In his speech, Leo described the following:

Holy Saturday is also a day of rest. According to the Jewish Law, no work is to be done on the seventh day: indeed, after the six days of creation, God rests (cf. Gen 2:2). Now, the Son too, after completing his work of salvation, rests. Not because he is tired, but because he loved up to the very end. There is nothing left to add. This rest is the seal on the completed task; it is the confirmation that what should have been done has truly been accomplished. It is a repose filled with the hidden presence of the Lord.

While the Pontiff draws on the tradition, cultivated since around the 4th century, of referring to the Sabbath as Jewish, he clearly states that no work may be done on the seventh day and that the seventh-day Sabbath is the day of rest for all creation. According to Deuteronomy 5, the Sabbath is also linked to the liberation of the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt, which represents nothing less than God’s liberation of humanity from sin. This is precisely what the Pontiff emphasized by highlighting the time of rest for Jesus Christ after He had completed His work of redemption.

The usual mixing

This is where the necessary sorting out of the valuable raisins from the rest of the unhealthy stuff begins. The Pope wouldn’t be the Pope if all this were the complete truth. The 7th day is rightly emphasized as a day of rest, “Holy Saturday,” the symbol of creation, the true Creator, and the deliverance from sin. But there can be no talk of a “completed” work of redemption!

Death on the cross is not the end of the plan of salvation

The death of Jesus Christ on the cross AND His resurrection are a crucial cornerstone of His plan of salvation, but by no means the final destination. For “completion” would mean “finished, the end, nothing more.” In this sense, all people would ultimately be redeemed “somehow,” and anyone who still wants to be guided by the Spirit of God to overcome sin, to follow a path pleasing to God, to do God’s will, is welcome to do so as a “voluntary option” if they so choose. But that is not the case!

High Priesthood in the Heavenly Sanctuary

Aaron’s Priesthood – Shadow for Jesus’ High Priesthood

The salvation or perdition of each individual human being is determined by examination (judgment), which ultimately did not happen on the cross. After His ascension, Jesus Christ not only took his place beside God’s throne, but also assumed the role of High Priest. To do what? The exclusive, sole intercessor and mediator for humanity before the Father. Incidentally, Mary or other “saints” do not even appear here, because:

John 14:6:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 John 2:1:
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1 Timothy 2:5:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Neither a Mary, nor 6,650 saints and blesseds, nor even 7,400 martyrs (Martyrologium Romanum, as of 2004) appear here. With a few exceptions (e.g., Enoch and Elijah), all are in the grave awaiting their resurrection. If it is the first resurrection, then to eternal life; if it is the second resurrection, then to eternal shame and disgrace, that is, receiving the justification of judgment and subsequently the second and final death (Daniel 12:2; John 5:29; Revelation 20:5-6).

What happened after the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, what is currently happening, and what will still happen, is explained here.

A “foreign cult” emerges

Leo continues in his speech:
And we, on that suspended Sabbath, learn that we do not have to be in a hurry to rise again; first we must stay and welcome the silence, let ourselves be embraced by limitation. At times we seek quick answers, immediate solutions. But God works in depth, in the slow time of trust. The Sabbath of the burial thus becomes the womb from which the strength of an invincible light, that of Easter, can spring forth.

Leo repeatedly emphasizes the day of rest and even calls it by its name, the “Sabbath.” A day of silence, just as Jesus Christ was when He rested in His tomb.

Jesus dead in the depths – time for “sol invictus”

Mithras cult
Mithras rises daily from the east

What follows is a “brilliant” transition to the actual “theology” of the Church of Rome. The symbolic language used by Leo fits perfectly with the narratives surrounding the “deity” Mithras. It flows seamlessly from the “depths” of Jesus’ tomb to “God’s work in the depths.”

The power of the invincible light (“invincible sun, sol invictus”) rises from the east every morning, after this “deity” has ensured “law and order” in the deep underworld. With his chariot and his cloak adorned with the interior decoration of a starry sky, Mithras, the “Anointed One” (“Christos”), sees how he can save this world (“God saves,” “Yehushua,” “Ieosos,” “Jesus”).

The Mithras cult, also visible in the structure of the hierarchy in this church, is a legacy of the “Sunday Emperor” Constantine (Info).

This is also consistent with the statements of the “saint” and church teacher Alphonsus Liguori, who considers the death of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins to be completely unnecessary, but necessary for the establishment of the priesthood. There is no mention of a renewed resurrection, let alone of a high priesthood of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary (Info).

Pope Francis clarified his own “theology”

Pope Francis also had something to say about Saturday, but in his narrative, he referred to it as the “penultimate day” in the sequence from Good Friday to Resurrection Sunday. Francis promptly declared the “penultimate day,” i.e., Saturday (Sabbath), to be the “day of evil.” This is evidently due to the Egyptian variant related to Mithraic mythology. The interplay between Osiris, Isis, and Horus, as well as the “chief villain” Seth, whose day is the 7th day of the week, the day of Saturn (Info).

The inverted gospel of the Church of Rome

Seth is said to be the lord of the underworld, the depths. Horus wanted to kill him in revenge for the murder of Osiris. To further confuse matters, Horus is said to be the reincarnation of Osiris. The analogy behind this is essentially the inversion of the Gospel. Seth is defeated, thus lying dead in the depths. Just as the state of Jesus Christ, preferred by the Church of Rome, is dead in the depths.

In this case, Seth, the supreme evil, is actually Jesus Christ, and he is killed by the “invincible sun.” It’s not hard to guess that “sol invictus” is simply another name for “Lucifer,” i.e., Satan. It can be hidden well, as the Church does, but it cannot be completely concealed. Furthermore, the Bible also has something to say about it, Revelation 13:2:

…and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Church – Useful tool of the beast

It is truly exciting, as it should be for Catholics, that the Pontiff actually correctly presents the 7th-day Sabbath in its nature as intended by God. A sign of creation, a symbol of redemption from sin, and thus automatically also a sign of the authority of the true and living God. The (mark) of God par excellence. For this contrasts with the mark of the beast announced in Revelation 13 (Info).

And the beast (from the sea) is nothing and no one other than the papacy (Info). Finally, the Church of Rome itself confirms, in its own words, that it is its “divine authority” to have the power to shift the biblical Sabbath to the first day of the week (Sunday) (Info). Mankind faces the final choice of either recognizing the true God or the beast (papacy, teachings of the papacy).

Confirmed as a central theme

The signs clearly point to a deliberate focus on the biblical Sabbath and the Sunday observance established by the Church of Rome.

Old Bible
‘Secrets’ which are not

What should not be underestimated are the “underlying” effects of Charlie Kirk, who was murdered on September 10, 2025. He was extremely popular, especially in the USA. Politically active, he was equally motivated by the gospel. His outstanding distinction was that he and his family not only recognized the 7th-day Sabbath, but also observed it (Info). In doing so, Kirk even opposed the “Christian political agenda” in the USA, which promotes the papal Sunday as the day of rest.

The Pope then emphasized the correct observance of the Sabbath. Whether this is a fresh game based on Hegelian dialectics, or whether it will operate according to the principle that the truth has finally been told, but the lie is still being followed, will soon become clear. What is certainly confirmed is that the issue of “Sabbath or Sunday” is anything but a trivial matter. Quite the opposite is the case; it will ultimately be the final decision with lasting consequences.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
