Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Turkey, as expected, revealed the continuation of Roman Catholic ecumenism: the usual platitudes and narratives aimed at uniting humanity as a whole.

Continuation Francis

Pope Leo XIV concluded his series of visits to Turkey over the weekend. He then traveled to Lebanon. In addition to religious and political, and especially ecumenical, motives, the Pontiff also viewed his trip as a pilgrimage to Iznik in Turkey. Furthermore, the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea (325) is also connected to these activities. Iznik is the current name of the ancient city of Nicaea.

Agreement through compromise according to papal theology

At the heart of the Pontiff’s mission was the fraternity of all humankind (Source). Regardless of ethnicity, origin, opinion, culture, or religion, all people are created in the image of God, and therefore there is a “universal fraternity” (Source). Leo XIV visibly followed in the footsteps of his predecessor on the Chair of Peter, emphasizing that religions are, by their very nature, the “guardians of this truth,” encouraging every individual, every group of people, and every nation to embrace and practice that truth.

Therefore, any form of “fundamentalism and fanaticism” must be firmly rejected. Our path, however, is one of fraternal encounter, dialogue, and cooperation.

Through our reconciliation with one another, we are better able to bear credible witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A message of peace and universal fraternity, transcending all national boundaries.

Clear agenda

All different religions are merely different languages for the same God, and therefore every religion leads to salvation, according to a former summary by Pope Francis. The former pontiff also spoke out vehemently against fundamentalism, demonizing it, even vilifying it, as the “worst virus” wreaking havoc on humanity.

The term “extremism” and its rejection may well be justified, because in this case there is a tendency to impose one’s own beliefs on others, possibly through violence. But fundamentalism is actually much less harmful than commonly portrayed, because this term is based on foundation, basis, and foundation. In this specific case, it refers to the written word of God, every sentence, every word. For the Roman Catholic Church, of course, this is a cause for fear and anger..

The Gospel contradicts the Papacy

Bible-Catechism
Bible & Catechism – 2 Worlds

If one takes the Gospel as it is written, the ecumenism sought by the papacy is completely impossible, since it is in total contradiction. Jesus Christ himself clearly emphasized this and dismissed such visions, Matthew 10:34-37:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

The sword of division. Division between those who remain faithful to the written word and, simply put, everyone else. Jesus Christ represents the exact opposite of what the papacy propagates: its pursuit of the unification of all peoples and all religions, naturally under the umbrella of one head, the Pope himself. Therefore, the papacy can only consider fundamentalism the greatest enemy of ecumenism.

It’s all just temporary.

Martin Luther was such a “fundamentalist“, as were the approximately 80 other well-known Protestant theologians or pastors, all of whom clearly identified the papacy in the Gospel (e.g. Daniel 7, Rev. 17; 18 – Info).

Therefore, it is only logical that Leo XIV pursued the same goal as his predecessor and argued accordingly. Revelation 17 describes a chronological sequence of seven beasts. Finally, the eighth beast will appear, but it will be one of the preceding seven. This beast, however, will only be in power for a short time, more precisely, for just one (prophetic) hour. Then Jesus Christ intervenes and puts an end to the earthly filth that has persisted for some 6000 years (Info). He will also consign the beast to nothingness and eternal oblivion.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
