Protestant and Catholic students in the state of Lower Saxony will receive joint religious education starting in the 2026/27 school year. “Christian religion” is the new compulsory subject. Church and political representatives are extremely enthusiastic. For the young people, however, this represents a major disaster.

Reformation passé

A progressive reversal of the Reformation and Protestantism that began in 1517. Starting August 1, 2026, students in the state of Lower Saxony will be taught the subject “Christian Religion According to Protestant and Catholic Principles.” This combines the “principles” of the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant churches. Apparently, those in charge want to ensure that every student benefits from this ecumenical subject, since participation is not optional but mandatory.

According to current legislation in accordance with the Lower Saxony School Act (NSchG), paragraph 124 NSchG – Religious Education, Section 2 (Source):
Parents and guardians decide on participation in religious education. Students are entitled to this right after they turn 14. Non-participation in religious education must be declared in writing to the school administration.

For many decades, the subjects were separated by denomination into Protestant religious education and Catholic religious education. Some federal states also offered “ethics” as an alternative for students who did not want to attend either the Catholic or Protestant religious education classes. With the new “Christian Religion” subject, this previous distinction between Christianity according to the Gospel or tradition according to the Catholic Catechism is eliminated.

Lower Saxony’s Minister of Education, Julia Willie (Bündnis 90/The Greens), signed this agreement between the Protestant churches and Catholic dioceses in Lower Saxony, stating that this new subject makes an important contribution to the religious education of children and Lower Saxony. At the same time, it strengthens coexistence and democratic values. (Source).

Political election program

Politics Bündnis 90 / DIE GRÜNEN (“Alliance 90 / The Greens”) and the topic of religion. The Greens’ 2022 election manifesto in Lower Saxony states the following (Source):
We want to further promote interreligious dialogue. We are striving to establish an agreement with the Islamic religious communities to establish a new foundation for religious education, imam training, and pastoral care, for example.“/p>

BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN are committed to ensuring that no one is discriminated against on the basis of their religion or ideology. True to the principles of religious freedom, the separation of church and state, and the equal treatment of religious communities, we advocate for clarifying the diverse relationships between the state and religious communities.

We advocate for a non-denominational, religious studies-based compulsory subject, ‘Religions and Worldviews’, in Lower Saxony schools.

Catholic Voice

Bishop Dr. Heiner Wilmer (Diocese of Hildesheim) sees this new subject as a logical development of “confessionally cooperative religious education.” Similarities will be highlighted as well as differences. Religious education goes beyond imparting knowledge about religion. It invites students to explore questions of existence, reflect on life plans, and develop a dialogue-based identity.

Evangelical Voice

For Bishop Thomas Adomeit, this combined religious studies subject promotes perspectives on other denominations, such as Judaism, Islam, and the Orthodox Churches. Adomeit stated that, in these times, it is important for students to find meaning and direction in their lives. The goal of this new subject is religious education, allowing students to clarify for themselves what they hold dear. This is also connected to philosophies and worldviews.

The preparations for the creation of the new subject “Christian Religion” took approximately four years.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to evaluate how the curriculum is structured, or what is referred to as “Protestant and Catholic principles.” Until now, the Reformation, or rather Protestantism, was governed by “sola scriptura” (Info), while for the Church of Rome, it is self-evident that its tradition stands above Scripture.

How does that fit together? Not at all! As Martin Luther once stated, along with dozens of other reformers, the Gospel and Roman Catholic teachings are completely incompatible. These are no longer compromises; they are already a complete break on the part of the once Protestant churches.

But, “what the heck,” was the thought behind the new subject. The daughter, long since returned to her mother (Info), doesn’t care in the slightest whether her entrusted flock achieves salvation or not. She is concerned about the happiness of her future honorary leader in Rome and is on the lookout for more customers, as eagerly as the business activity on Hamburg’s Reeperbahn.

(Satanic) Theosophy brought to children

The World Core Curriculum, rolled out by the UN in the mid-1990s, is also reflected in the topics championed by the respective church representatives for the new subject (Info). One searches in vain for the terms “Bible” or “the Word of God,” let alone “Jesus Christ,” in the respective “hurrah reports” of the church media.

Instead, it is philosophies, interdenominationalism, and worldviews that set the tone. The world is visibly heading toward a fusion between the (former) gospel and humanism, which will produce a pantheistic world ethos. Theology and philosophy result in theosophy, and thus total catastrophe. The most imaginable worst-case scenario, the Super-GAU (Info). And this is already happening to children and young people.

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
