A total perversion of the gospel, the reversal of good and evil, is evidently not only accomplished in a sophisticated way, but also with the method of looking like an elephant in a china shop. It is even stated outright that the Ten Commandments are a synonym for Satan.
Strange stylistic flourishes
The thriving blossoms of strange teachings about the gospel sometimes take truly bizarre forms. One of these oddities is that Paul taught a different gospel than Jesus Christ, and therefore one must choose which to follow. Another variant is the claim that James didn’t understand the gospel at all. Abolished laws of God, God’s law never given to Gentiles, or even only 9 out of 10 valid laws are also such machinations.
Leviathon be Levi-Athon
But there are even wilder theories, as one social media user emphatically claims and defends. He goes one step further than simply rejecting God’s law and describes God’s Ten Commandments as another name for Satan.
He argued the following:
“The name of Satan is Levi-athon…the running after of Levi….the levitical law, he is king of the children of pride… the then commandments are Satan … the angel of death that God created.”“
“The old covenant is darkness, it’s a shadow…Christ is the light“.
“The ten Commandments are not God’s law, Christ Jesus is the law .. Jesus said behold I make all things brand new.“
“Ten Commandments are sin. Jesus is father. Romans 14:23, Galatians 3:12“
Therefore, baptism in water is also a part of the Old Covenant and therefore sinful (allegedly based on Jeremiah 2:13), as well as a righteousness based on works. Jesus is the living water.
Additionally, there are tendencies reminiscent of the Roman Catholic Church:
“The Church is our Mother and the Church is the new Jerusalem on earth.“
Not much “study” necessary
Indeed, this apologist argues that the sea monster “Leviathon,” described in the Old Testament, is a corruption of the tribe of Levi, and the second half of the word “athon” is a variant of “Satan.” Therefore, the “Levitical Law” is from the adversary. This is not only absurd, but also inconsistent with the unfortunately widespread conflation of ceremonial laws, the Law of Moses, and the Ten Commandments, the Law of God (Info).
Isaiah 27:1:
“In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.“
“Actually,” it is also clearly stated in Hebrew (לִוְיָתָן – liv-yaw-thawn). This means something like “the twisted one” and corresponds to a “sea monster,” possibly also a “sea dinosaur.” The characteristics of Leviathan are described primarily in Job chapters 40 and 41. Describing Leviathan as a combination of “Levi” and “Athon” (as Satan) requires an enormous amount of fantastic imagination.
Crowbar target group
It’s a classic example of the reversal of good and evil. Not subtle and sophisticated, however, but rather brute force. Unfortunately, in some areas, it’s also “successfully conveyed” to the target audience—so it’s now assumed.
Many people who haven’t yet absorbed much of the gospel are actually satisfied with such explanations. “The Old Covenant, the New Covenant, and the Ten Commandments are Satan,” that’s it. And just like that, the Law of God is declared null and void, even evil, using a brute force approach. The goal is achieved, because those who do not only disregard the law, but also avoid observing it as much as possible.
Unfortunately, further investigation to get to the bottom of the truth is often considered a superfluous waste of time. After all, such belligerent messages still have a lasting effect, even in minds flooded with stimuli. A fatal development.
