God’s comprehensive mercy in favor of hell denied

The Church of Rome intends to defend the eternally burning hell, along with the souls of the damned who are eternally tormented there, by any means necessary. This historical and traditional flagship of fear-mongering must not slip from its grasp. Therefore, it does not shy away from denying God’s all-encompassing mercy.

Only “limited mercy of God”

The mercy of God is not convincing evidence that excludes the existence of hell. The Roman Catholic mouthpiece “catholic.com” attempts to prove that the argument of the mercy of God cannot be used to confirm the non-existence of hell. (Source).

Hell, the eternally burning fire that torments and burns the damned souls forever and ever, in which the condemned souls never perish but must endure immeasurable torment. One of the favorite visions of the Roman Catholic Church, which, however, was not taken from the Gospels, but rather originated from the ideas of ancient Greek “minds” like Plato and Co. Just as the foundation of the Church of Rome consists not of the Gospels, but of Hellenistic natural law. The papacy doesn’t even make a secret of this, but rather “openly and honestly” admits that its teachings are based on natural law (Info).

Thesis of “eternal hell” should be maintained

Raging fire – fear spreads

Hell was a favorite dogma of this church, as it created the desired fear in people and strongly supported its own claim to be the “mystical body of Christ” on earth, its representative, and indeed the Pope himself as a deity. “Outside the Church there is no salvation,” was the self-understanding. It was easy to impose one’s own will on the common people and on the kings and princes that it had chosen and appointed itself, when otherwise it threatened excommunication and, of course, the never-ending torment in the inferno of hell. “Fear is trump.”

The Bible itself demonstrates that there is no eternally burning hell, as is unfortunately claimed by many Protestant churches, who simply adopted this traditional view of the Roman Church. To do this, one must “simply” consider the original written text in its context (Info). The argument that Jesus Christ descended into hell after His death is also based on bending and breaking the biblical statement to support one’s own preferred version (Info).

Fallen Man More Merciful Than God?

Most people probably can’t bear to see animals being tortured, let alone watch it. Nor will the majority be able to simply watch if an animal accidentally jumps into a campfire and writhes around, screaming in pain. They will immediately jump up to free the animal from its torment. And that’s a very good thing. But that would mean these people would be more merciful than God. And this even as humans in their fallen nature.

Furthermore, anyone who claims an eternally burning hell that torments the souls of the damned forever makes God a liar. For Revelation 21:4 states quite clearly:
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The Catholic Church’s version attests to a greater mercy for sinful humanity than the mercy of God. A logical conclusion. This church also labels God’s promises as non-binding announcements. Because when God says, “there is no more suffering,” one should take him literally.

Father of Lies demands tribute

The Catholic magazine’s argument is nevertheless insightful. The article correctly points out that mercy is an act of giving and is not subject to any obligation. A debt does not have to be forgiven, but it can be forgiven, and in the latter case, it is an expression of mercy. But in the very next step, the article denies the mercy of God, which, given humanity’s fallen nature, is necessary to lead it to salvation. Mercy, it argues, is not a prerequisite for a person to experience repentance.

“Without me you can do nothing,” says Jesus Christ in John 15:5:
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

God’s mercy across the entire spectrum

It would be childish to argue that one could certainly open one’s ravioli can, put on one’s socks, and beat the pillow without Jesus Christ. This argument would even be false. The fact that a sinner is still alive after committing a sin, even though the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), already demonstrates God’s mercy; without it, pragmatically speaking, there would be no human beings left. For everyone has sinned. “Without Jesus, we can do nothing” refers to the ability, the strength, to overcome sin through a change of character and lifestyle.

The renunciation of the sinner’s immediate death is described in Romans 3:25-26:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

An apt description and warning against such apologists, as the Church of Rome and its representatives repeatedly demonstrate, is provided by 2 Timothy 3:5:
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

and Titus 1:16:
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

The Catholic magazine’s article even constructs a contradiction, including the statement, “God must grant the grace of repentance.” God doesn’t have to do anything, and He owes us nothing. But being able to draw on God’s power to even show repentance necessarily presupposes this God-given ability and thus also God’s mercy. The apparent contradiction arises in a constructed constellation reminiscent of the statement in Genesis 3:1:
Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

This approach isn’t really surprising, because the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, however “wild” it may seem, actually contains the three lies of the serpent in the Garden of Eden as its official teaching. These include the lies about the immortality of the soul, man’s inherent divinity, and the capacity for his own “good morals” (Info).

Justice completely ignored

No. There is no literal, eternally burning hell. There is an “eternal fire” burning, which is unquenchable until the work of final destruction (“consumption”) is completed. The dead (the second death) no longer exist and will be as if they had never existed. They do not suffer eternal torment for all time. This, and this is how the Church of Rome has liked to portray it since its beginnings, would make God into a monster, who on the one hand is the benevolent father of the saved, but with his “second sight” ensures that the torment of hell never ends for lost souls.

Justiz
The forgotten justice of God

It’s also striking that the article completely omits the word “justice.” Justice is inextricably linked to God’s love and mercy. Yet, in the papacy’s self-understanding, the law is in the hands of the Church of Rome, as is “loving mercy” in the hands of the Pontiff. It is he who exercises mercy and grants general indulgences here and there, after dipping into the “treasure chest of good works.”

It is the Catholic Mary who, by this church, was given the blue mantle of the once Levitical priests. The blue of God’s law is worn by the Catholic Mary (Info), while the priesthood (bishops and cardinals) wear the purple and scarlet, just as the whore is precisely described in Revelation 17.

The Church of Rome knows exactly who it is, whom it actually worships, and where it can be found in the Bible (Info).

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Revelation 22:14-15
