End Times: Two Sieges of Jerusalem Repeated

Romans Jerusalem

Deutsch

Jesus Christ’s end-time sermon on the Mount of Olives concerned Jerusalem and also concerns our time of the end. The Romans besieged the city twice. This will happen again, along with the erection of the abomination of desolation. The first siege has already taken place.

Fulfillment is imminent

The end-time sermon of Jesus Christ on the Mount of Olives is very well known and also of utmost importance. After all, Jesus’ warnings can be found in three Gospels (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21). This is not a “superfluous” repetition, but the fundamental principle of two or three witnesses (Deuteronomy 19:15; Matthew 18:16).

Many “modern scribes” consider Jesus’ end-time sermon on the Mount of Olives to be a long-settled story. With the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD and the dispersion of the people in the 130s, the future of that time had already been caught up with. These events were therefore considered the “end of time,” and Jesus’ statements are completely irrelevant today or in the future.

However, the “end of time” is far from reached, and the opening words of the Book of Revelation, chapter 1, and the book of Revelation as a whole clearly point to this. Given the passage of time since the first century, it should be all the easier to conclude, based on history since the first century, that Revelation has been visibly fulfilled and developed over the centuries. Like a script, if you will. The individual prophecies are fulfilled one after the other, as written.

Typical of the past events described in the Bible, especially those in the Old Testament, is their function as a model in the local context for a repetition at a later date, but on a global scale. The antitype replaces the type.

Example Revelation 11

2 Witnesses
2 witnesses were lying on the street

One such example is Revelation 11 with the two witnesses and the beast from the abyss (Info). A description of how this took place during the French Revolution (1789 to 1799), i.e., in the local area of France and also in other places in Europe. The gospel was trampled to the ground for (exactly) 3.5 years.

Primarily, the political power structure of the papacy was dismantled, but this was in conjunction with the total ban on all religion (Info).

Example Revelation 13

Revelation 13, the description of the beast from the sea and the beast from the earth, can also be seen as such a type-antitype constellation (Info). 1260 years of tyranny of the political papacy (538 to 1798) followed by the “mortal wound” to one of the beast’s seven heads, but healing will occur again.

The beast regains full power, and the beast from the earth will act as the strategic, military, economic, and religious arm of the first beast. In other words, it will impose the will of the papacy on humanity. This time, however, not for 1260 years, but, as things stand, for an estimated 3.5 years. Then Jesus Christ will draw a line under it.

Sieges of Jerusalem in type

In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus warned not only of the adversities of the end of time (plagues, wars, earthquakes, etc.), but also of a siege of Jerusalem. The siege of the one who will raise up an “abomination of desolation.” If this siege is seen, then get away from Jerusalem as quickly as possible.

The first siege

siege
Jerusalem’s First Siege

This siege actually occurred. In 66 AD, the Romans surrounded Jerusalem, their banners held high, depicting images of Roman idols, a symbol of desolation. Escape was impossible, but Jerusalem was well-stocked with supplies. For some inexplicable reason, the Roman army suddenly withdrew, returning to Rome.

Most of the inhabitants considered this withdrawal the prophesied victory and pursued the Romans. In fact, the inhabitants of Judea who had followed them inflicted significant losses on the Romans. Not all of the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judea, however, hurried after them; many used the opportunity to flee. These were the first converted Christians of this time. They knew Jesus’ warning and believed in it. They fled to the other side of the Jordan, where they could practice and teach Jesus’ teachings undisturbed.

The second siege

Romans in Jerusalem
Destruction after the 2nd siege

Meanwhile, the people of Jerusalem became unconcerned; confident that they had driven out the Romans, they feared no further siege. The supplies for such occasions were converted into cash. But things turned out very differently. In 70 AD, the Roman army, under the general Titus, returned to Jerusalem. Another siege, and this time there was no withdrawal, but misery and destruction in the city. Matthew 24:19:
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

The unspeakable events that unfolded within the city are described by contemporary witness and historian Flavius Josephus. He also emphasizes that not a single soul of the young Christians was harmed by the Roman siege, as all of them, seizing the opportunity, left the city. Just as Jesus had commanded (Matthew 24:15-21).

Romans plunder
Not an ounce of gold remained

As it was bound to happen, Jerusalem was taken by the Romans. A bloodbath. The temple was also reduced to rubble and ashes. As Jesus predicted, not one stone of the temple remained standing. This had nothing to do with “Roman diligence” but rather with their greed. The heat of the fire melted the golden utensils in the temple. The liquid gold also flowed between the joints of the walls. Thus, all the stones were moved to get to the coveted metal.

A small deviation

Now critics might argue that Jesus only spoke of a siege. True. Nor did any flight begin before the first siege. However, looking at the antitype—that is, this siege applied to the events of the end times—it becomes clear that, for whatever reason, the people of God were not yet ready to flee, had been asleep, had simply missed the opportunity. Why the Roman besiegers withdrew after the first siege is, beyond speculation, still an open mystery.

Sieges of Jerusalem in Antitype

A significant indication of the missed opportunity, which also applies to our time today, is given by Jesus’ statement in Luke 19:41-44:

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

This is what actually happened. This also includes the realization that (most) people failed to recognize the signs of the times, were unwilling to recognize them, or simply ignored them. It will be the same again.

The 3rd Abomination of Desolation

The Bible essentially speaks of three “abominations of desolation.”
Abomination 1 – Siege and destruction of Jerusalem (66 and 70 AD, Matthew 24, Mark 13)
Abomination 2 – Assumption of absolute power by the “little horn” (538 AD, Papacy, Daniel 11)
Abomination 3 – End-time events according to Daniel chapter 12

The first abomination in the antitype can be equated with the abomination in Daniel 12. As Revelation 13 describes, the beast from the earth (Info) will create an image of the beast from the sea and cause people to worship this beast, its name, its image, and also to take the number of its name.

3. Abomination – The Mark of the Beast

Anyone who actually does this out of conviction receives the mark of the beast on their forehead. Anyone who considers it nonsense but does it anyway to avoid the threatened consequences receives the mark on their hand (Info). Both are gravely wrong and lead to irreversible destruction.

First siege Antitype was already

Speech to the US Congress
Fiery speech fended off Blue Laws

The first siege in the antitype had already occurred. In fact, it began in 1888. At that time, the so-called Blue Laws were being prepared in the USA. Legislation for Sunday protection, or rather, a ban on working, was already pending; individual states had already implemented this legislation and even imposed penalties. However, the legislation for the entire USA remained stuck in the “final phase” and was not passed.

As with the first siege of Jerusalem, the people of God were not ready, had been asleep, had missed the right moment. Just as the Romans withdrew unexpectedly, the federal law was unexpectedly not implemented. But postponed is not cancelled. For the Blue Laws were not shredded, but rather “still hanging on the bulletin board” for processing.

Leo XIV continues Leo XIII

Important in this context is that at the time of the Blue Laws, the See of Peter was presided over by Pope Leo XIII. The current Pope, Leo XIV, explicitly declared that he chose the papal name because he wanted to continue the work of his namesake. If that doesn’t raise alarm bells, that’s for sure.

Another parallel lies in the massive upheavals in the economy and labor market. At that time, industrialization, the Industrial Revolution, was still in full swing. Traditional professions were destroyed en masse, and unemployment rose just as massively. One reason for Leo XIII to publish his “worker-friendly” social encyclical “Rerum Novarum” (1891).

AI will be the second industrial revolution

Leo XIV explicitly emphasized the importance of issuing the social encyclical in light of the disruptions already emerging from the already accelerating spread of artificial intelligence. A parameter that has the potential to far exceed the massive disruptions, bordering on revolution, of the industrial revolution.

The new pope didn’t waste any time after his election in May 2025, but got straight to the point. (Source):
And today the church offers to everyone the treasury of the social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and the developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose a new challenge for the defense of human dignity, justice and labor.

The desired social system?

“Anyone who thinks evil of this is a scoundrel.” Leo’s predecessor, Francis, founded the “Council for Inclusive Capitalism” and was also its patron (Source). An association of the largest international corporations, including the banking sector, they together form a fund that now has more than $10 trillion (as of September 2025).

Elite in the Tower
Politicians and CEOs in the ivory tower

One wondered why? It practically smells like the coming mass unemployment and upheaval triggered by AI will lead to considerable unrest, and a solution must be found very, very quickly.

This “solution” could be a combination of “owning nothing and still being happy” and a basic income for the promised “happiness.” “Social justice” would be achieved if everyone had the same. Almost everyone, because while the “foot soldiers” are supposed to eke out an existence according to the principles of communism, creating value and “socially acceptable death,” a fused variant of government and corporations (= ecumenical fascism) sits on the ivory tower.

Not without conditions

A basic income will, of course, not be unconditional, but only for those who know how to pay homage to, even revere, if not worship, the “Savior.” Cash has already been replaced by digital currency, issued to digital identities whose ability to buy and sell can be activated or deactivated at the touch of a button (see Revelation 13:16-17).

The second siege in Antitype

Digital-Money
Brave New World

The plans for implementing the Mark of the Beast seem to have already been finalized. The agenda simply needs to be completed. One after the other, countries are introducing digital ID, and the Eurozone will have the first digital euro starting in October 2025. There is still time to avoid the second siege. The final banner, the Sunday law at the international level, is in production. The pedestal for it, the statue of Nebuchadnezzar according to Daniel 3, has already been erected.

It is fundamentally “appropriate” to start moving (overdue), to leave larger cities and move to the surrounding areas. The circumstances between 2020 and 2023 demonstrated how quickly entire neighborhoods are sealed off, even the front doors are nailed shut (e.g., Shanghai, China), so that no one can get out. One day at work and then at a restaurant, the next day in lockdown. It can happen that quickly.

Cleaning is done again

Broom and Church
It is cleaned

A third chance is not in sight. Rather, a great cleansing of God’s people is planned, already evident today. Jesus, in His day, set the example of this in a type. After announcing the destruction of Jerusalem, He set out for the Temple for repeated cleansing. He cleared out the “filth” that had accumulated in the Father’s house. The inhabitants of Jerusalem, under the supervision of the Pharisees and the High Council, transformed the Temple into a marketplace and a money exchange.

This cleansing, also called sifting, has now begun. Still sporadic and hesitant, but when the final abomination of desolation appears on the horizon, it will all happen very quickly. Anyone who is still in the midst of it without first fleeing is in deep trouble. For rejecting the mark leads to immediate consequences in the “lion’s den,” whereas in the (still) freer surrounding area, there is more freedom of action.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
