A brief excerpt from the ecclesiastical history of the Roman Catholic religious institution. Key points, some of which are now denied and dismissed as “conspiracy theories,” include the prohibition of Bible possession, orders for burning alive, targeted extermination, the prohibition of buying and selling, and the “papal deity on earth.”

Today there is a lot of denial

Somehow, the history of the Roman Catholic Church is notoriously ignored, simply forgotten. As if nothing ever happened. A small apology here, a brief “sorry” there, but when it comes to addressing the most cruel, bloodiest organization in human history, there’s a complete lack of attention. Quite the opposite. One sits with the “Mother of all Churches” in all hypocrisy and celebrates ecumenism, just before accepting the Pope as the primacy of all churches.

The following is a (further) tiny “fragmentary excerpt” from the history of the Church of Rome, which “only” represents various cornerstones, but brought death and destruction to humanity. Estimates of the total number of victims of the Roman Church vary between 50 and well over 100 million people.

Ban on Bible possession

Prohibemus etiam, ne libros veteris testamenti aut novi, laici permittantur habere: nisi forte psalterium, vel breviarium pro Divinis officiis, aut horas beatae Mariae, alequis ex devotione habere velit. Sed nopraemissos libros habecant in vulgaritranslatos, arctissime inhibemus.

We also forbid that laymen be permitted to have books of the Old or New Testament: unless perhaps they wish to have a psalter, or a breviary for the Divine Offices, or the Hours of the Blessed Mary, for their own devotion. But we most strictly forbid that they have the books already sent out translated into the vernacular.

Ac inqufitione notatos, etsi levis superstitionis argumento tangantur, a viris ecclesisticis, & praelatis examiniari iubemus. Per quos si inuenti fuerint a fide catholica faltem in articulo deviare, ac per ipsos pastorali more commoniti, tenebrosi diaboli relictis insidiis, noluerint agnoscere Deum Lucis, fed in erroris concepta instantia perseverent: prasentis nostrae legis edicto damnatos mortem pati Pacarenos aliosque haereticos, quocumque nomine censeantur, decernimus, quam affectant: u vivi in conpectu hominum combrantur, flammarum commilli iudicio. Nec dolemus, quod in hoc ipsorum satisfacimus voluntati, ex quo poenam folummodo, nec fructum alium consequuntur erroris.

And we order that those who have been marked by the inquisition, even if they are touched by the argument of slight superstition, be examined by ecclesiastical men and prelates. By whom, if they are found to deviate from the Catholic faith in any point, and if, having been admonished by them in a pastoral manner, they have abandoned the snares of the dark devils, and have refused to acknowledge the God of Light, but persist in the instance conceived in error: by the edict of our present law, we decree that the Pacarenes and other heretics, by whatever name they may be considered, shall be condemned to suffer death, which they may desire: or that they shall be burned alive in the sight of men, by the judgment of a thousand flames. Nor do we grieve that in this we satisfy their will, from which they receive the punishment of folly alone, nor any other fruit of error.

Widespread extermination

Teneatur praeterea Potestas, seu Rector omnes haereticos,quos captos habuerit, cogere citra membri diminutionem, et mortis periculum, tamquam vere latrones, et homicidas animarum, et fures sacramentorum Dei, et Fidei Christianae, errores suos expresse fateri, et accusare alios haereticos, quos sciunt, et bona eorum, et credentes, et receptatores, et defensores eorum, sicut coguntur fures, et latrones rerum temporalium, accusare suos complices, et fateri maleficia, quae fecerunt

Furthermore, the Authority or Rector is bound to compel all heretics whom he has captured, without the loss of a limb and the risk of death, as if they were truly thieves, murderers of souls, and thieves of the sacraments of God and of the Christian Faith, to confess their errors expressly, and to accuse other heretics whom he knows, and their goods, and believers, and their recipients and defenders, just as thieves and robbers of temporal things are compelled to accuse their accomplices, and to confess the evil deeds they have committed.

Unde contra eos, episcopos & omnes Domini “sacerdotes in illis partibus commorantes vigilare praecipimus, & sub interminatione anathematis prohibere, utubi cogniti fuerint illius haeresis sectatores, ne receptaculum quisquam cis in terra sua prebere, aut praesidium impertire prasumat. Sed nec in vendtione aut emptione aliqua cum eis omnino” commercium habeatur: ut solatio saltem humanitatis amisso, ab errore viae sue resipiscere compellantur. Quisquis autem contra haec vnire tentavetit, tamquam particeps iniquitatis eorum, anathemate feriatur.

Wherefore we command the bishops and all the priests of the Lord residing in those parts to be vigilant against them, and to forbid under penalty of anathema, wherever followers of that heresy are known, lest anyone presume to offer them shelter or protection in their own land. But let there be no commerce with them at all in sale or purchase: so that, having lost at least the consolation of humanity, they may be compelled to repent of the error of their way. But whoever attempts to join against these things, as a sharer in their iniquity, let him be anathema.
