Many people know the “mysterious” and very famous number “666.” Not all of them know that this number comes from the Bible. Since “mystical” things seem to have a magical attraction, interest in it is very high. The interpretations of its meaning are correspondingly diverse.

Plenty of room for interpretation for “666”
One of the most exciting passages in the Bible is the last verse of Revelation 13. This passage contains the “legendary” number “666.” This is less exciting because it supposedly conceals some mystical secrets, but rather because such a vast theoretical construct has been built around this number. The Bible contains far more important statements and, above all, prophecies than the meaning of “666.”

Just as the mark of the beast will not be a barcode, a QR code, or a microchip on or under the skin, neither will it be a “666.”
The theories surrounding this number are probably so diverse because the passage about “666” isn’t read carefully enough, and also because there are other erroneous theories about a future, first-appearing Antichrist. An “Anti” who will wreak havoc for seven years. A story from the corner of futurism (Info). If the appropriate model is then constructed so that this imaginary Antichrist can receive his “666,” then the true nature of this number is already very poorly understood.
Read what’s actually inside
Another reason is the misinterpretation of this number. It should not be treated as “6 – 6 – 6,” but as the actual sum of three individual numbers.
The “666” is the “number of the beast,” according to one phrase. See the corresponding passage in the Bible (Schlachter 2000).
Revelation 13:18:
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Other German Bible editions have also written “666” as such, i.e. “six hundred sixty-six.”
In ancient Greek, there are no symbols for numbers. Therefore, people used a letter of their alphabet and assigned it a numerical value. In Greek, this position is represented by “χξς.” These are the individual letters “chi,” “xi,” and “stigma.”
χ = Chi = 600
ξ = Xi = 60
ς = Stigma = 6
The number of a human being

Verse 18 reveals another very important piece of information. In addition to the “number of the beast,” it is also the “number of a human being.” Thus, this number is not only associated with a state, political power, but also with an individual. In prophecy, the beast represents a political-state power. This is already evident from Daniel 7. The succession of four world empires is a picture of a respective beast, or rather a monster for the fourth world empire (Rome). This is an important prerequisite for understanding the succession of beasts in Revelation 17 (Info).
And a human individual. Since a state cannot be a human being at the same time, it stands to reason that the depiction of “666” refers to a state-political power and a representative. A leading or leadership figure. It also stands to reason that this is not necessarily limited to a single individual in a very short period of time, since, after all, the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 was also active for 1,260 years without interruption.
In this case, however, the announced power of the last beast according to Revelation 17, which is also temporally connected to the final actions of the beast from the earth (Revelation 13), is only for a very short time. For God will only allow a short time for maneuver. Then the execution of judgment follows.
The number of his name

Revelation 13:17 gives another reference to this ominous number “666”.
“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.“
What’s more, this number is also associated with a name: the number of the animal’s name.
Names in the Bible are not just nicknames, but usually also represent the qualities, character, and actions of the person addressed. The best example of this is the numerous names for Jesus Christ (Info).
Interim balance:
According to Revelation 13:17-18, the number “666” is associated with:
– the beast
– a human
– the name of the beast
The number thus refers to a political or state power with a human as its representative and also exhibits certain characteristics. Accepting these characteristics is one of the prerequisites for retaining economic participation. And thus also one of the characteristics that, in addition to accepting the mark of the beast, also leads to God’s displeasure (Info).
Prophet Daniel gave the first clues

It will be a blasphemous power, hostile to the people of God until the last day, as foretold in Daniel 7:20-21. The wording:
“And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;”
How long? This is found in verse 22:
“Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.“
Ergo, the blasphemous power operates until the return of Jesus Christ.
A similar repetition of the attributes of the same power is found in Revelation 13 for the beast from the sea, in verses 6-7:
“And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.“
More details about this power according to the books of Daniel and Revelation can be found here.
666 – Papacy – Holy See – Pope

In this sense, it shouldn’t be so difficult to identify the bearer, issuer, and owner of this number “666.” For, in the fluid transition from the last ancient Roman empire, which dominated religion and the kings of the earth for many centuries, there was a mortal wound, recovered from it, and ultimately regained its former power. This is the papacy and the institutions associated with it, Vatican City (Holy See – State – Beast) and the Roman Catholic Church (Harlot, Revelation 17).
This religious-state institution has a human being as its representative, the Pope, or “Pontifex Maximus,” the adored “supreme bridge-builder,” a title inherited from the Roman Empire. Emperor Constantine, who established Sunday law in 321 and convened the Council of Nicaea in 325, was the “divine Pontifex Maximus” at that time.
The papacy fulfills all this
As far as the name, that is, the characteristics or character, is concerned, the Church of Rome stands out in particular for not only disregarding virtually all of God’s statutes and laws, but even twisting them into their opposite. The dogmas of this church are also de facto a reversal of the Gospel (Example 1 – Example 2). Blasphemous words against God (blasphemies), transgression of the law, and the prohibition of observing God’s law (example) are the hallmarks of this Roman institution.
The papacy claims to be able to forgive sins against God. This is, by biblical definition, blasphemy against God (Luke 5:21):
“And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?“
Over the centuries, the papacy has repeatedly described itself not only as the representative of Christ, or God on earth, but even as God on earth (more examples). Another blasphemy against God.
As far as blasphemous power is concerned, the papacy fully lives up to all of this. It is its character, its quality, its name.
Regaining power of attorney

It’s hardly conceivable that the papacy, if it regains unlimited global power, will force peoples to adopt Roman Catholic customs, according to the catechism and liturgy. No former jihadist will suddenly feel comfortable as a monk in a Benedictine monastery, nor will a former Taliban wear the garb of an altar boy. There would also be conflicts with Judaism, let alone Buddhists prostrating themselves before the obvious depiction of Mary. There’s no need for that.
The ways and means to disregard, transgress, and even trample on God’s law are endlessly diverse. The only challenge is for humanity to do so united and with one mindset: a united rebellion against God, united as a peaceful human family.
The acceptance, or adoption, of these characteristics and the associated rules of belief and behavior leads to the acceptance of the mark of the beast. For thereby, man accepts the papacy, the beast from the sea, as his authority and rejects the authority of God. The primary characteristic, the quasi-outward sign of God’s authority, is the seventh day, the Sabbath, which He has blessed and sanctified.
The Church of Rome was the first to take up this sign of God’s authority and will continue to do so until its “last breath” (Info).
A predictable “666”
“He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast,” is one detail of “666.” This number can be calculated, in other words, using mathematics, or the multiplication table. This does not require any excessive speculation, for the papacy, addicted to titles that express the greatest possible glory and power, has ensured that it has assigned itself this calculable number.

Some modern Bibles have also messed around in this area (Info). There’s no mention of “calculating” in it, but rather something like “finding out.” Yes, that seems like a perfect tinderbox for even more fantasies.
The Church is keeping a low profile on this widely used title today. It’s too revealing, but it doesn’t help. One cannot completely erase the history and written legacy. The title is “vicarius filii dei.” It contains the numbers of ancient Rome, and their sum total is 666. Here’s the info.
Summary:
The number “666” (600 and 60 and 6), as well as the name of the beast and the beast from the sea itself, represent the state power of the papacy, its attributes, character, and doctrine, and its human representative, the Pope himself. The grand finale of the end is then ushered in after the papacy, through its compliant executor, the beast from the earth (Info), has imposed the mark of the beast, and every single person has chosen either to do what the papacy intended for humanity’s “good” or to remain faithful to God’s statutes.
Afterwards everything is decided

Once each person has made their final decision, God will close the door for good. It’s over, done with, the end. Nothing can happen anymore. All cases are thus decided. The decision as to who is saved and who is lost is already determined for those who have already died. For them, the judgment has long been underway! (Info)
But if the door closes, this also applies to those still alive. God won’t let much time pass—why should he? And the first plague of the seven last plagues will fall upon humanity. The saved are still in the midst of it, but they have been sealed (Revelation 7) and thus protected.
The “666” and King Solomon
The number “666” appears a second time in the Bible, unsurprisingly also in the Old Testament. Specifically, in 1 Kings 10:14.
“Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,“
This is a concrete indication, which can also be seen as a type for the future at that time, which is now the present. Under King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived on earth, Israel possessed immeasurable wealth. Solomon was faithful to God and humble before Him. But this changed unexpectedly, and God had foreseen this. The exact 666 talents of gold are a “hint.” They had no effect on Solomon, but in view of the impending change in Solomon, God placed a marker here.
The king, blessed by God, went astray, and quite drastically so. He had developed a taste for further increasing his wealth and lived in corresponding luxury. Worse still, he consorted extensively with the women of the pagan nations. This was also driven by political and economic calculation: close trade relations for even greater profits and a stable foreign policy. Solomon counted 700 principal wives and 300 secondary wives. And it got even worse. He even had temples built for the “gods” of his pagan wives. Idolatry wherever one looked.
God responded to Solomon’s unfaithfulness
Compromises for the sake of prosperity and peace. “Peace and security,” was Solomon’s idea. But this was not God’s intention, and God’s actions did not go unanswered. Peace with the neighboring nations remained only a temporary phase. Their rulers rebelled against Solomon and also had their eyes on his wealth. Domestically, everything went wrong as well. Jeroboam, one of Solomon’s servants, began to rebel against his master. Jeroboam fled to Egypt because Solomon wanted to kill him. He remained in Egypt until Solomon finally died.

Subsequently, Israel split into two parts: the north, with ten tribes and its capital Samaria, and the south, with two tribes and its capital Jerusalem. Jeroboam became the first king of northern Israel.
With the number “666”—it would have been completely irrelevant whether Solomon had brought 667 or “only” 665 talents of gold into the treasury that year—God set a clear sign for the consequences and characteristics of the power and representative to whom the number “666” is attributed in Revelation 13. This is associated with idolatry, false gods, greed for power and money, corruption, and fornication. These are precisely the attributes that apply to the “beast from the sea” (Revelation 13), or the prostitute in Revelation 17.
These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
