Danger of occultism – Seemingly harmless things can lead to disaster

Okkultismus

“Occultism? Only other people do that!” Really? Among the literally hidden dangers are seemingly harmless practices that turn out to be outright occultism. Things taken for granted, mere games, without the awareness that they open the door to the influence of dark forces. Treated as a “norm” in the present, but in reality a catastrophe for humanity.

No fun – deadly serious

Many people say, “I have nothing to do with occultism!” Yet they are deeply involved without actually being aware of it. Occultism begins much earlier than one might often assume, especially in the areas related to it. First and foremost, occultism does not necessarily mean direct and conscious contact with spiritual beings, their conjuring or questioning. The word “occultism” means “something hidden, something concealed.”

What you think is just a game, that you are doing it for fun, quickly turns out to be the opening of gates that you cannot close again so quickly, if at all, through your own efforts.

Origins of occult superstition

Such practices as astrology and the associated “fortune-telling” originated in Babylon, and were also strongly represented in ancient Egypt. These teachings, for one cannot even speak of “knowledge” at this point, were probably carried from the pre-Flood period into the post-Flood era via one of Noah’s sons. The son of Ham is “strongly suspected” in this context. Nothing is described in the Bible about the wives of Noah’s sons. Ham himself fathered the sons Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

Babylon Wall
Babylon – primordial soup of the occult

From the branch of Cush emerged the Cushite people, who make up present-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. The son of Canaan, on the other hand, is more common, for his descendants formed the region of Canaan, which was ultimately conquered by the invading people of Israel. The peoples of the Canaan region (e.g., the Jebusites, Amorites, Hamathites) were outspoken idolaters and even practiced the sacrifice of living people (including children). The Cushites, and especially the descendants of the son of Mizraim, shared a similar pattern of idolatry and the worship of creation rather than the Creator. For from his lineage descended the Egyptians, as well as the Kasluhites, who emerged as the Philistines, those with the giant Goliath.

Besides Babylon, Egypt also exists

While only a “miserable heap” of ruins remains of ancient Babylon, Egypt and its historical buildings and institutions represent a true treasure trove of discovery. This is especially true for those who are very close to polytheism and pantheism. The mythologies of ancient Egypt, in particular, contain those elements developed by the “first tyrant and mighty hunter before God” Nimrod and his wife Semiramis. In addition to the later Assyrian city of Nineveh, Nimrod was also the founder of ancient Babylon.

Ancient Egypt
Pool of Secrets

The allure of Egypt and the occult (hidden) world it contains is clearly enormous. Napoleon Bonaparte, during his campaigns of conquest, dispatched a team of researchers to Egypt to explore its coveted secrets. Thus, archaeology was born, with Egyptology as its specialty. Later, numerous explorers from Nazi Germany also explored the fields of Egyptian mysteries. The interest among those deeply interested in occultism was, and still is, enormous.

Still highly sought after today

Occult, that is, hidden, and that’s how it will remain. Unless you roam in the appropriate circles and climb your “career” step by step. Ancient Egypt, the melting pot of mysticism, also referred to by zealous enthusiasts as the “source of wisdom.” A tremendous investment, especially in time and dark attitudes, is required, only to ultimately encounter a wall of pitch-black nothingness. Yet the true source of wisdom can be purchased for very little money in any bookstore, and this source is called the Bible, the Word of God.

The “most powerful” miserably drowned

An important figure in occultism, which originated in Babylon and is still practiced today in its various forms, was Egypt’s Pharaoh Thutmose III. The “Book of the Dead” is among his legacies. He was the “most powerful” of all pharaohs and, of all people, the ruler who miserably drowned in the Red Sea when the fleeing people of Israel, after their exodus, reached the other shore on dry land, and the floodwaters broke over the Pharaoh and his army (c. 1450 BC).

Moses-Aaron-Pharao
The ‘Most Powerful’

The most powerful representative of ancient occultism today has erected the pharaoh’s obelisk in front of his own door in memory of Thutmose III. It is the monument in Lateran Square in Rome, in front of the Lateran Church. The square is owned by the Vatican, and the Lateran is the official main church of the Roman Catholic faith.

The fact that the most powerful of all pharaohs met such a miserable death while pursuing a virtually unarmed people with his army also fits with God’s ever-present concept. He repeatedly seeks out the supposedly weakest to wipe out the supposedly most powerful opponents with a single blow of his hand. Or even with a slingshot and a stone. After all, David was still a young shepherd.

Seemingly harmless practices

Whether it’s the shamans of the Amazon region, Mongolia, the Caribbean, the Far East, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Shinto, or even the seemingly harmless practices in the households of “Western enlightened” civilization, their origins can be found in Babylon. All of them are shrouded in mystery, promising divination and supernatural powers, and causing things that cannot be explained. Examples of these seemingly harmless, yet highly dangerous practices include:

  • Card reading, sign interpretation, fortune-telling, palm reading

  • “Lucky charms,” amulets, healing magnets, healing stones, talismans

  • Magic, sorcery

  • Astrology, zodiac signs, horoscope creation

  • Trance, hypnosis, possibly under the influence of drugs

An abomination before God

Esoterik-Tisch
An abomination

According to the Gospel, all these things are an abomination to God. Deuteronomy 18:9-12:
“When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”

“Durch das Feuer gehen lassen” ist ein anderer Ausdruck für Brandopferung, bzw. ein rituelles Verbrennen. Das geschah regelmäßig in den Heidenvölkern, aber auch innerhalb des Volkes von Judäa, nachdem es heftig abgefallen war. Jeremiah 7:30-31:
For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it. And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.

Incidentally, the origin of the concept of “Hell” can be found in the Valley of (Ben-) Hinnom. It was a place of pagan sacrificial burning, followed by garbage incineration, south of Jerusalem. From this, the Church of Rome fashioned a Hellenistic version of a place where the souls of the damned would be tormented forever. A blatant and persistent lie (Info).

People decide for themselves

Idol sacrifices, fortune-telling, sorcery, astrology, and similar things have been whispered into mankind by the adversary of God. Certainly even in the time before the Flood, about which the Bible doesn’t describe much, but immediately after the Flood in its respective sequels. One can also turn the tables, saying that the end of time will be like the time of Noah (Matthew 24:37-41) and the time of Lot (Luke 17:28-29). Just as it is today, so it was then.

Indeed, practices such as pendulums, glass tipping, or even the use of dowsing rods are often effective, but these forces or results are brought about by the dark side. According to the principle of “fair play,” the adversary is not permitted to simply manipulate, influence, or harm people as he sees fit. God does not force His Holy Spirit upon people or coerce them. The Spirit of God draws attention to sin and the truth (the conscience). People decide for themselves, in their remaining free will, whether to listen or continue on their current path. The Spirit of God only actively works when the person has decided to do so and asks for it.

It is the spiritual aspect

Figures, images, amulets, etc., are made of wood, stone, metal, or fabric; they are inanimate; they can neither see nor hear. They are neither animated nor possessed of a soul. Yet many people see a special power in these objects, even kneeling before them and worshiping them. While these objects can accomplish absolutely nothing, it is the (fatal) belief in them that sets things in motion. The spiritual aspect of occultism stands directly opposite to the equally spiritual aspect of the gospel. It is “belief in them” that leads a person in one direction or the other: either into light or into absolute darkness.

In many households, such utensils even have a designated, fixed place for “worship” and to ward off “evil forces.” What a mistake! The differences here lie solely in the respective themes.

Then there are also those who directly call the adversary of God, Satan, by name—the one they worship and do his will. But that’s a different league, and these people are less likely to decorate the corners of their rooms with such “cozy-looking” paraphernalia, but rather carry their ambitions into governments, parliaments, the executive suites of large corporations, and even major churches.

Once the doors are opened …

However, a person’s decision can also fall in favor of the “whispers” from the dark side. This is an invitation for more. From this point on, the doors are already open, and those forces immediately put their foot in the door frame so that the door can no longer be closed. The practice of occult practices such as dowsing, card reading, horoscopes, etc., is such an invitation. It starts small and seemingly harmless, but usually develops into something more. This can go so far that even “spirits of the deceased” suddenly appear. This doesn’t even require consciously entering into servitude for the adversary.

However, since there are no spirits or souls of the deceased that could ever appear to one, this is the appearance of demons, who are quite capable of impersonating a known person. The doctrine of an immortal soul that leaves the body after death is a lie of the serpent, not the truth (Info). The mere belief in such a separate soul is the domain of spiritualism and thus a specialty of the Roman Church (Info).

The adversary’s goal

Abgrund
Fall into darkness

No matter how you twist and turn it, label it, or rename it, all these occult things are an abomination to the Lord. And with very good reason. For on the one hand, these things represent the veneration, the recognition, perhaps even the worship of the adversary and his minions, and on the other hand, the souls who practice such things are inevitably lost. For the Creator, who loves His creation so much that He even gave His only begotten Son so that humanity would not perish (John 3:16), the consequences of occultism are heartbreaking. They will not be able to withstand the consuming fire (Info).

The work of dark forces on humans does not generally result in the transformation into a “snarling zombie”—that’s Hollywood. While it can certainly produce disturbed personalities, it usually remains hidden in inconspicuousness. The adversary’s goal is the perdition of humanity. This is achieved less through brutal intervention, but rather through seduction, which leads people to permanently transgress God’s law. Seduction and deception are the greatest dangers (Info).

Only way out – Jesus Christ

Light on the Bible
The sustainable light

Once such a door is opened and the forces of darkness are at work, man can no longer do anything for himself. He has surrendered himself to the darkness and can no longer escape on his own. These invited “guests” will no longer leave the house voluntarily. Even 185,000 people are defenseless against a single angel (2 Kings 19:35). Demons are also angels, but spiritual beings who have fallen into darkness. Removed from their former position, but still in full possession of their powers.

Creatures are never more powerful than their Creator. Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things and also the One who can free humans from the infestation and influence of the adversary. Jesus Christ demonstrated several times how to free demons from an infested person, even when they are so numerous that they have given themselves the name “Legion” (Mark 5:9).

The unconditional faith

What is the secret behind it? There is no secret; that would be occult. It is faith openly demonstrated. Faith in Jesus Christ, and above all, faith like Jesus Christ. Some disciples were unable to expel demons and searched for an answer. This one came promptly:

Matthew 17:19-21:
DThen came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

In many modern Bible editions, the last part, “and fasting,” has simply been deleted (Info). Therefore, special attention should be paid to fasting (Info).

Anyone who has “called upon evil spirits” and cannot shake them off finds their lifeline in Jesus Christ. Surrendering oneself, with all that one has and all that one is, being born again, and the intercession of others in prayer, can put an end to the dark activity surrounding one’s own spirit. However, this also requires solid preparation.

Book recommendation – “Zauber des Aberglaubens”

Kurt Hasel

True liberation begins with eliminating absolutely everything connected to the former practices. Gather everything together—be it cards, pendulums, horoscope guides, books, talismans, lucky charms—and destroy it. Don’t sell or give away, but destroy it. This also applies to things that a relative or acquaintance may have brought home as a gift many years ago. Therefore, it doesn’t hurt to take inventory of the household, including an empty box for all discovered or rediscovered items that have absolutely no place in the home.

On this topic, and on the whole, I have a special recommendation: the book “Zauber des Aberglaubens” (“The Magic of Superstition”) by Kurt Hasel (German language). A detailed description of the dangers of the many facets of occultism and how to free yourself from them.(.pdf-Download – extern)

Once freed, it’s imperative to stay on the ball, trust Jesus Christ unconditionally, deepen your faith, and prepare for what’s to come. A “relapse” into occultism would be catastrophic for the person affected, because:

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Luke 11:24-26
