Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has many names and designations. They all describe His character, His actions, and His intentions. In the Old Testament, the Messiah, who was still to come from that perspective, is given the name “Immanuel.” This name means “God with us.” The name “Christ” comes from the Greek (Christos) and means “anointed one.” In Hebrew, the anointed one is the “Messiah.”
