Cosmic Week – 6000 Years – What does it mean?

A concept that can certainly cause quite a stir: the “Cosmic Week.” A period of 6,000 years, plus an additional 1,000 years of rest. The topic has both supporters and opponents. It all depends on whether one goes too far with the supposed predictability of Jesus’ return, or whether one leaves it entirely to God.

Cosmic Week – The name for a principle

Anyone who studies not only the Bible, but also the entire context of the Gospel, what is taught and narrated about it, may have come across the term “the Cosmic Week.” It refers to a period of 6,000 years, beginning with the beginnings of creation and ending with the expected return of Jesus Christ.

The basic idea of the Cosmic Week refers to creation in literal six days and the statement in 2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

First uncertainties

A rough sequence of the duration of the six days of creation throughout human history to date, but with a factor of a thousand. This suggests that God’s plan of salvation (the gospel) will not necessarily begin from the beginning of creation, but perhaps from the Fall of Man over a period of (approximately) 6,000 years. The gospel only became relevant with the fall of humanity. If one explicitly relates this Cosmic Week to the period of creation, only the “year zero” remains as the beginning. This alone reveals that there are various uncertainties.

Around 6,000 years clearly recognizable

There is no precise timetable for the day or time. Except for actual temporal prophecies, all of which have already been fulfilled, events since then and future events can no longer be pinned down to a specific time. No one knows the day and hour of Jesus’ return, but the statement in Revelation 12:12 also indicates that only a specific time has been predetermined:
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

The adversary also does not know the exact time of the return of Jesus Christ, but he is obviously aware that it will be a limited and even short time for the achievement of his plans.

Various cornerstones in 1,000-steps

Roughly speaking, there are also various cornerstones in the course of the 6,000 years of the Cosmic Week. Whether the beginning is set with Creation or with the first Fall is of little importance here, as these are approximate times of events. Considering the sequence of generations according to Genesis 5 and Genesis 11, one gets an overview of the respective birth dates from Adam to Abraham, with reference to the time of Creation.

It is important that the Masoretic original text is available for the sequence of generations and not based on the information in the Septuagint (which also forms the basis of the Latin Vulgate). Because the Greek translation (also called the LXX), which is strangely preferred by biblical scholars, contains contradictory information (Info).

After the first 1,000 years, Noah was born; after about 2,000 years, Abraham came into the world. Around 3,000 years after the beginning, the first king (Saul) was installed in Israel. The ministry of Jesus Christ on earth occurred around 4,000 years after the beginning. After about 5,000 years, the truly radical “Eastern Schism” occurred, which separated the Eastern Church from the sphere of influence of the Bishop of Rome.

A good 2,000 years have passed since Jesus’ ministry. Depending on the interpretation of the biblical information, the 6,000-year mark of the Cosmic Week has thus either been nearly reached or slightly exceeded. A graphic overview of the biblical and extra-biblical events between creation and the present can be found here.

Following the 1,000 years of peace

Also fitting the concept of the Cosmic Week is the period of another 1,000 years after the return of Jesus Christ. This is the so-called Millennium, which, however, will not be realized as a kingdom of peace on Earth (Info). It is a period in which the Adversary and his vassals will be bound in the “Abyss” and will no longer be able to cause any harm. This will be on a destroyed Earth, the very “Abyss.”

A period of 1,000 years of rest. This would also correspond to the conclusion of the six-day creation with a further seventh day of rest. Specifically, this is the Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11 – Info), the completion of God’s creation. A day of rest that has been blessed and sanctified by God (Genesis 2:2-3).

Don’t overdo it

One could, if one so chooses, set the point in time for the expiration of the first 4,000 years of the Cosmic Week at the baptism of Jesus Christ. After all, this event was also prophesied in Daniel 9:24-25 during the last week of the 490-year week (Info). Jesus’ active work of salvation also began with His baptism. This was specifically in the year 27 AD.

Now, it would be a simple matter to add the last 2,000 years. As before, these are approximate divisions of the respective 1,000-year increments of the total 6,000 years of the Cosmic Week. Furthermore, God doesn’t reveal His cards, because what humanity needs to know for its own salvation is written in Scripture. That is why God had it written down, through His prophets. Furthermore, God will not slam the door shut at the “gong” of a predetermined date, but only when every person has freely decided for Him or against Him.

Either way, it won’t be long now

This all-decisive time is still ahead of humanity, but already within reach, and will likely last only a short time. For circumstances will be such that people will have to make decisions within a short period of time. After all, it involves exclusion from economic life (being able to buy and sell – Info). This impending (legal) regulation will be directly contrary to God’s laws. Unfortunately, most people will choose to maintain economic and social participation, and only very few will want to remain faithful to God and His laws.

Such a law is already on the horizon. When it will become globally binding is not yet known. Furthermore, only God knows when each individual will have made their decision. Therefore, no one knows in advance when the gate will be closed. This will not happen once, for all of humanity as a collective, but for each individual.

Cosmic Week – Quite justified

Despite the unpredictability of the crucial moments, it cannot be overlooked that the world has reached a state that not only suggests, but directly suggests, the impending end of the drama that has been ongoing for some 6,000 years. The “concept” of the Cosmic Week therefore does not appear “far-fetched,” but is entirely well-founded. One must not make the mistake of trying to determine the exact year, month, and hour of Jesus’ return. God alone knows this event, for only He has the overview and knowledge of every single person, their heart, and their final decision.

Preparation – Now!

Furthermore, there are no reasons not to want to prepare for the return of Jesus Christ. At least “not yet,” since there is (supposedly) still enough time to prepare in time. A fatal mistake, considering that preparing to become an acceptable part of the Bride of Christ means purification and overcoming (Info). The Bride is “pure and shining.”, Revelation 19:7-8:
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

The parable of the ten foolish virgins (Matthew 25) illustrates this. Five of the virgins had not made sufficient provisions and ended up standing before closed doors and were not even allowed into the wedding feast. Jesus answered their cries, Matthew 25:12:
Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Preparation also means knowledge

I come like a thief in the night,” said Jesus Christ about His return, which came as a complete surprise to most people. This also applies to the final events, Revelation 16:15:
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

This event will therefore come as little surprise to those who have prepared for it! These are also the ones who will not be surprised by the developments yet to come, but will be able to interpret them based on their consideration of the prophecies. Revelation 17:8 demonstrates the opposite:
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Only those who do not care about the truth of the gospel, and therefore are not written in the Book of Life, will watch with astonished, ignorant eyes.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
