When love grows cold – CEO Thompson’s death shows it

Instead of horror, there was overwhelming joy over the murder of the CEO of a US health insurer in New York. A completely inappropriate sense of (self) justice and, above all, a cooling of love.

Made the assassin a hero

The murder of the CEO of the US insurance company United Healthcare, Brian Thompson, made waves, particularly in the USA. The assassin waited almost all night for Thompson in the metropolis of New York and ultimately shot him from behind. Social media was and is still abuzz about this event. The suspected perpetrator has already been caught. The comments made on this are particularly striking. These are mostly full of praise for the assassin. Sometimes he is even stylized as a hero. The motive for the cheering, which can even be heard, is the insurance company’s practice of denying benefits for vital treatments to their paying health insurance customers.

Surveys
Survey reveals something sinister

A survey has now provided figures on what the mood in the country is (Source). Accordingly, there is a big difference between the younger and older generations. Across the entire age range, from 18 to over 70, 17 percent of respondents consider the assassination of the CEO to be “acceptable” or “somewhat acceptable.” This approval is lowest in the 50 to 59 age group with a share of 8 percent. What stands out, however, is the 18 to 29 age group. At 41 percent, acceptance of Thompson’s murder is by far the highest. At 23 percent, approval in the age range 30 to 39 accounts for almost a quarter.

The self-righteousness of boys

The shockingly high proportion among the youngest age group stands out. 41 percent consider the murder of the CEO to be “acceptable”, 24 percent consider it “somewhat acceptable” and only 17 percent consider it “unacceptable”.

The comments that can be read on the relevant social media on the Internet are also very worrying. Schadenfreude, spite, even calls to follow this example with further actions. A very strange development regarding the perceived justice and, above all, the self-righteousness shown.

The Gospel is clear about this

In the light of the Gospel, a situation or development now exists that was certainly predicted. Basically it is written in Exodus 20:13:
Thou shalt not kill!
Nothing less than the Sixth Commandment (Info).

Jesus Christ got to the point in His sermon on the Mount of Olives, Matthew 24:12:
And because lawlessness abounds, the love of many will grow cold.

Exactly the opposite of what the present Holy Spirit would do to man if he were only accepted, Galatians 5:22:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

This self-righteousness and condemnation according to “Hollywood and Co.”, where supposed justice is ensured by slaughtering the villain, leaves visible traces, especially on the younger generation. This completely overlooks who it actually is who ensures justice, Deuteronomy 32:35-36:
To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. For the LORD shall judge his people, …

Paul described it too

The future can be read

Paul also painted the big picture at the end of time, and yes, it is becoming more and more clear, 2 Timothy 3:1-4:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

In contrast to the chapters of Revelation, the events prophesied by Jesus Christ (Matthew 24) are in a chronological order. While the love of many continues to grow cold, the gospel is to be spread throughout the world in order to bear witness to the Gentile nations. The end comes immediately. The final abomination of desolation will be set up (Matthew 24:13-16). So the mark of the beast is within reach (Info).

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Luke 21:28
