As part of the current election campaign in the USA, a real mudslinging is taking place over the issue of abortion. Pros and cons from Democrats and Republicans. However, the respective arguments are consistently taken from the box of humanism. Only a few traces of the gospel.

“Freedom” – A campaign joker
“Freedom for the people” is a popular and often used concern to provide a tasty justification for one’s own political or social plans. Such “freedoms” were also promised to people during 2020 and 2023 should they decide to “include” a novel means. However, firstly, this promise was broken in all aspects and secondly, only the freedom that had previously been taken away from people was in prospect.
Legal abortion is “freedom”
A possible Democratic candidate for the upcoming US presidential election, Peter Buttigieg, also has similar ideas about “new freedoms”. He is no stranger, as Buttigieg is currently the US Secretary of Transportation. He believes legalizing abortion would make men more free than they would be without the move, CNA USA reported (Source).
The reason is that men become “freer” because if they can pressure a woman to have an abortion, they are freed from responsibility. If men are involved in creating new lives, they should assume the responsibility that comes with caring for the child and the child’s mother, said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee.
Catholic Voices
The Transport Minister’s statements also “activated” Ashley McGuire. She is a senior fellow at The Catholic Association Abortion and author of the 2017 book “Sex Scandal: The Drive to Abolish Male and Female.” From her perspective, Buttigieg is just giving what has always been known about abortion. This gives men the opportunity to exploit women.
The male “freedom” described by Buttigieg comes at the expense of women’s freedom, said McGuire. This creates a world in which men are “freed” to use women and force them to have abortions. This has nothing to do with freedom, but is simply domination under another name.
These demands are simply the desire for “sex without responsibility”. “Creepy” and “disgusting” ideas, according to Tobias.
Accusations and denials
The Democrats have so far failed to provide an answer as to where “our freedom” is, according to the accusation with regard to women’s freedoms. This particularly applies to the “abortion czar” Kamala Harris. She is keen to push through an abortion agenda for all trimesters and without limits.
The election campaign in the USA is raging. In fact, the mudslinging doesn’t stop there either. Conservative circles accuse the current US Vice President and Democrat Kamala Harris of wanting to legalize abortion until shortly before the birth of the child. Harris vehemently denies this accusation.
Humanism instead of gospel
Whether from the nonetheless “pro-abortion” and “distant to Christianity” Democrats or the “anti-abortion” and almost suddenly “pro-Christianity” Republicans, the mudslinging concerns “liberties, responsibility, oppression, women’s rights and men’s rights.” So pretty much everything that concerns the religion of humanism, but not the gospel. And that is significant.
The choice between “plague and cholera”. Taking sides in either position only led to them being co-opted by the vicious game. The arguments on both sides are either contrary to the gospel or just miss it. But “just off the mark is also off the mark.”
However, this mudslinging in the “name of humanism” is not all that surprising. Because the “beast from the earth” wants to “conscientiously” fulfill its imposed duties – Info.
Reform Church – Pro-Abortion
One is inclined to say “of course” when one reads the point of view of an evangelical religious institution. The “Reformed” from Switzerland defend abortion and clearly refuse to consult the Bible on this topic. This should not be a weapon because: “Women have fought hard for the right to have a legal abortion. This must not be questioned.” (Source).
This position that the Bible is not allowed to be used as an argument here, especially by a “Christian institution”, can be accepted as an opinion, but can also be ignored with a “full heart”.
Bible on the subject of “abortion”
The topic of “abortion” does not appear directly in the Gospel. However, the Bible speaks plainly about the killing of unborn children. In order to avoid the “unpleasant” crime of killing, abortion supporters generally only grant life to the child after birth. The Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) speaks of an “increasing right to life ” (Info). There is obviously great potential for “creativity” in perverting God’s plans and will.
Jeremiah 1:5:
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.“
An unborn child is not treated as a “disposable object” in the Bible, as in Exodus 21:22-25:
“If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
It is also clear in the Psalms that the child’s life does not only begin after birth, Psalms 139:13-16:
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
And logically Exodus 20:13:
“Thou shalt not kill!“
