The Bible has nothing to do with our time. All prophecies have long since been fulfilled and nothing of the sort will happen again. A bold thesis, but one that is widespread among the “scribes”. Those who do not see or do not want to accept that local events in antiquity are regularly typical and will be repeated in the antitype on a global level.

The local area becomes the global
“Educated scribes” in particular spread the theory that biblical prophecies, which primarily concern our time and the near future, have nothing to do with our time. According to Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, the sermon on the Mount of Olives was not written for the future at all, but was shelved with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Prophecies according to Daniel, whose book is wrongly placed by the same people in the 3rd century BC anyway, as well as the statements of Revelation are completely irrelevant for today and tomorrow.
These “modern scribes” completely overlook, or simply do not want to admit, that in the gospel it is almost a normal case for events that once occurred in the local area to repeat themselves in the future on a global scale. The type and the antitype, according to Solomon’s saying, “there is nothing new under the sun”, Ecclesiastes 1:9:
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.“
Example of the Olivet Sermon – End Times
Jesus Christ gave clear instructions on how people should act when the “abomination of desolation” is seen in Jerusalem (Matthew 24:15). In the parallel passage Luke 21:20 you can read what this “abomination” represents. It is the visible standards of the Romans during their (first) siege of Jerusalem. Already announced by Daniel and can be read in Daniel 9:26 and also pointed out by Jesus in Mark 13:14.
By the way: The many references by Jesus to the Book of Daniel, to reading it and to understanding it, clearly indicate that the Book of Daniel is not a fantasy, as so many scribes would like to classify it as. (Info). With such a false premise, it is even understandable that the “scholars” come to quite wrong conclusions in their “understanding of the Bible”.
Babylon – A model example
The subject of Babylon is a good example of the principle of type and antitype. The kingdom of Babylon and its capital Babel actually once existed. The Babylonian empire reached its greatest extent under the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar of the Chaldean tribe. It was he who conquered Judah and Jerusalem and deported many people from there to Babylon. At that time, Zedekiah was king of Judah. Daniel and his comrades, who were still young at the time, were also with him. The conquest did not even come as a surprise, as it had already been announced by the prophet Isaiah. The rebelliousness of the people around Jerusalem against God and His decrees did not remain without consequences.
In Daniel, chapter 5, we can read about the end of the great empire of Babylon. King Belshazzar, who ruled in Babylon, let the cup overflow by using the vessels from the plundered temple in Jerusalem for his drinking party. That evening he received the well-known message “Mene, mene, tekel upharsin” (Daniel 5:25) written on the wall. The announcement of his end and that of his kingdom.
The end of Babylon came that same night, within a very short time. The advancing troops of the Medo-Persian Empire led by Cyrus conquered the city of Babylon without resistance. They had previously dried up the Euphrates River, which flows through the city of Babylon, by preparing a diversion upstream. This allowed an advance guard to pass unhindered under the bars and past the guards, who were also drinking, to open the gates of Babylon.
The sudden end – repetition is certain
But the end of Babylon was also announced by the prophet Isaiah. The fall of Babylon in chapter 47. The “local template” of what will also happen to the antitype Babylon, i.e. the Babylon of the end times. Babylon, a structure of state and church with a pagan religion and the rule over the regions. In the final time, this region includes the entire globe (Info).
The parallels between Isaiah 47 and the announcement of the judgment on the (spiritual) Babylon of the end times are striking. Revelation 18 describes the end of this entity, which has already spread its tentacles into every single country.
Isaiah 47 and Revelation 18
Isaiah 47:8:
“Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:”
Offenbarung 18,7:
“How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.“
Jesaja 47,9:
“But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.”
Offenbarung 18,8:
“Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.“
Jesaja 47,11:
“Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.”
Offenbarung 18,10;23:
“Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”
“…for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.” (“sorceries” – Info).
Just as ancient, literal Babylon came to an end within a very short time, completely unexpectedly, modern Babylon will also be wiped off the face of the earth with a stroke of the hand, completely unexpectedly. “For in one hour she was laid desolate!“, as it says in Revelation 18:19.
Parallels down to the details
Even the drying up of the river Euphrates finds a parallel in the antitype. It is a depiction of the sixth of the seven final plagues. Revelation 16:12:
“And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.“
The “kings of the east”, i.e. coming from the east, show another parallel to the appearance of the Medo-Persian troops from this direction. Cyrus, although supposedly not the “greatest friend” of God’s people, was considered a type of liberation from Babylon. In Isaiah 45:1 Cyrus is even called an anointed one of God:
“Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;“
Only the final liberation of the people of God at the end of time, under the tyranny of “modern Babylon”, will not be another earthly king, but the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
These parallels in type and antitype are simply not recognized by the “scribes” or simply rejected. As a result, in their opinion the Bible has nothing at all to do with our time, and has even lost its relevance since the destruction of Jerusalem, or at the latest since the fall of Judah (Bar Kochba revolt 132 to 136 AD). This is actually astonishing, because the ongoing developments in our time can certainly be understood in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. Even before their eyes.
