The USA, its society and its lifestyle, have been the great role model in this world for decades. It is only a matter of time before new trends from overseas spill over into the Old World. This applies to the good things as well as the bad things. In the meantime something very rotten is going on.

A reflection of society as a whole
A strong indicator of the state of a society is the well-being of the individual. Even mantra-like chants about “inclusivity” and “common good” cannot hide this fact. Regardless of each individual’s motives, it is clear that something is deeply wrong in the USA.
Things are slowly getting out of hand
The US Health Authority (CDC) has now classified current figures on suicide rates in the USA demographically and recently published them using “Report No. 34”. (Source).
The increase in suicides compared to 2021 is 3 percent. With almost 50,000 suicides registered in 2022, this is the highest number of suicides recorded to date in US history. According to CNC, these are still preliminary figures and the authority is assuming higher numbers until all cases are finally determined.
With the increase in suicides in 2022, a rate of 14.3 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants has been reached. The highest rate to date was 14.1 in 1941.
The age of 35 years
In 2022, the decision to end one’s own precious life was four times higher among men than among women. However, the authority assumes that the proportion of women could be higher, as deaths due to drug poisoning are particularly common here.
The age of 35 seems to be a special limit. While the suicide rate has fallen overall among people younger than 35, it has increased significantly among people of older age. Depending on the age group, the increase in suicides over the age of 35 was between 3 and 9 percent compared to 2021.
The Native Americans and Alaska Natives had by far the highest rate with 26.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Reasons are not clearly identified
The Catholic News Agency magazine (CNA) followed up with Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). Accordingly, the number of cases has been increasing for around 50 years. The reasons for this could not be precisely determined. A common reason is poor mental health. But this is not the only cause.
A worsening of the situation was noted during the lockdowns due to the declared pandemic. Isolation and physical distancing, fear and uncertainty about health and life had an impact here.
Christian organization Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries told CNA that loss of trust in society plays a major role. With the suppression of the Christian religion, people would only be left with the pursuit of worldly and therefore fleeting goals.
Lost sight of the why and wherefore
The transience of worldly goals cannot be dismissed. Society is built on competition and therefore increasing pressure. This manifests itself in people in many different places. With the suppression of belief in the Gospel, as it was an everyday matter of course a good 150 years ago, the understanding of the wherefore, why and, above all, where to go has also been lost. It cannot be expressed more clearly than James did, James 4:4:
“Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.“
God’s word and this world, a construct of pure fiction, are thus directly opposite each other (Info). If God or Jesus Christ is missing from your life, you are completely at the mercy of this world. There is no real intermediate world.
Confidence and serenity
The person who believes the Word of God also recognizes his own role and position in this world. And more importantly, his happy exit. A prerequisite that, in understanding the motives of this world, allows you to look at things completely differently and gives you confidence and calmness. The existence of this truth can even be proven by quite secular means (Info).
2 Corinthians 4:8-9:
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”
Luke 12:5-7:
“But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.“
John 14:27:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Psalm 46:2-4:
“Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.“
