A special solar eclipse in the USA
A total solar eclipse has been announced for April 8, 2024 in the USA. At first glance, it’s not a “big sensation” because solar eclipses occur relatively often across the Earth. However, this solar eclipse arriving in the USA has some peculiarities. And these stand out quite clearly.
The solar eclipse begins from the west over the southeast Pacific and reaches the mainland in Mexico at 11:07 PDT (18:07 GMT, in Germany 20:07 p.m.). The state of Texas is the first US area reached by the solar eclipse. The area affected by the total eclipse continues into Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Residents of the outlying areas of Tennessee and Michigan will also be able to see the full occultation of the sun.
Canada is then affected by Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton. The end of the solar eclipse over land will occur on the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland at 5:16 p.m. NDT (7:46 p.m. GMT, 9:46 p.m. in Germany). The entire USA is affected by at least a partial solar eclipse. Even the “farthest corners” of the states still have a solar eclipse left with 20 percent coverage.
Some special features of this solar eclipse
So far, this event on April 8, 2024, there is nothing to write home about. But a closer look at a number of cities in the USA that were affected by the solar eclipse makes one sit up and take notice:
Nineveh, Texas
Nineveh, Missouri
Nineveh, Indiana
Nineveh, Ohio
Nineveh, Pennsylvania
Nineveh, Virginia
Nineveh, New York
Nineveh, Nova Scotia
“Niniveh” in the Bible
The city name “Niniveh” is certainly a term in the Bible. Once built by Nimrod, the first great rebel against God and also the builder of the city of Babel (Babylon), including the “famous” tower. Nineveh in Assyria also plays a central role in Old Testament prophecy. This city was threatened with destruction if the people living there did not abandon their idolatry and return to God.
The residents had 40 days to do this and they were converted. The warning prophet was Jonah (Book of Jonah), and as luck would have it, the city of Jonah, Texas, is also caught in the solar eclipse. As well as the other cities, Rapture, Fishers, Carmel (and Mount Carmel), and Sunblest in the state of Indiana.
Mount Carmel – A special place
The city name Carmel also corresponds to an important place in the Bible. It is Mount Carmel (northwest of Israel), where the prophet Elijah gathered all of Israel together. In addition there were 450 priests of the pagan “god” Baal and 450 priests of the pagan “goddess” Asherah (1 Kings 18:19). Baal was considered the “sun god”, while Asherah (Ishtar) represented the “goddess” of love and fertility (the “woman giving birth”) and essentially embodied Isis of ancient Egypt (Info).
The people of Israel were hopelessly addicted to idolatry. Mount Carmel proved that neither Baal nor Asherah were real, but imaginary idols to which almost all of Israel adhered. The true God revealed himself impressively on Mount Carmel. Today the main building of the Bahá’i Faith, which was founded in 1844, stands on this mountain. A large temple complex, even with the hanging gardens recreated from ancient Babylon. So idolatry, as usual.
A comet is also announced
However, the solar eclipse is not the only event on April 8, 2024. Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks (12P) is currently moving towards Earth. This comet orbits the sun in a distinctly elliptical orbit and can be seen approximately every 71 years. Its size is an impressive 17 kilometers. Around April 8th, this comet will reach the position where solar radiation is sufficient to break up the icy shell.
This radiation in turn causes the inside of the comet to shoot out. This cloud of gas and dust appears much brighter than the comet itself. Therefore, it can be assumed that the comet will be visible during the solar eclipse at daytime. Another name for comet “12P” is “Green Devil”.
Previous solar eclipse in 2017
Around 7 years ago, on August 21, 2017, a previous total solar eclipse took place in the USA. At that time the track was (naturally) also from west to east, but inclined from north to south. This event once again focused on two cities that were in the catchment area of the total solar eclipse. Those were Memphis and Nashville, both in the state of Tennessee. The template for naming Memphis is obvious. It is a city on the Nile in ancient Egypt. Ruins or remains can still be found around 18 km south of Cairo. According to tradition, Memphis was founded around 3000 BC. Founded by King Menes in 400 BC and was the capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom.
Nashville – pure entertainment city
Nashville was founded in 1779. The name is based on Continental Army General Francis Nash. Today, Nashville is considered the country music capital of the world and a home for gospel, bluegrass, jazz, pop and rock music. This city offers more than 180 venues for live music events. Greats like Charley Pride, Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley found their way into the music studios. The focus is also on numerous museums, art galleries and studios. The city of Nashville was once called the “Athens of the West” because of its educational institutions. With the construction of a temple complex based on the ancient Greek model, the title “Athens of the South” was added.
Grim outlook for Nashville
There seems to be some sort of Sword of Damocles hanging over Nashville, Tennessee. In 1904, this city was home to Ellen G. White (Info) and about Nashville she received a vision as follows:
“There was a scene presented to me. It was the night before the Sabbath. That is when that scene was presented. I looked out of the window, and there was an immense ball of fire that had come from heaven, and it fell where they were casting buildings with pillars, especially the pillars were presented to me. And it seemed as if the ball came right to the building and crushed it, and they saw that it was branching out, branching out, enlarging, and they began to cry and mourn and mourn, and wring their hands; and I thought some of our people stood by there, saying,
“Well, it is just what we have been expecting; it is just what we have been talking about; it is just what we have been talking about.” “You knew it?” said the people. “You knew it, and never told us about it?” I thought there was such an agony in their face, such an agony in their appearance” (MS 152, 1904, part 21)
Openly presented paganism
In 1904, E G White wrote down these words. If you look around at a building with columns in Nashville, Tennessee today, the Parthenon in Centennial Park will immediately come to mind. A detailed replica of the Parthenon Temple in Athens, ancient Greece. It wouldn’t be much of a feat to “must” about it if it already existed. But at the time of 1904 this building had not yet been constructed. A model of this building previously existed, along with other buildings that also represented a pyramid of Egypt. Construction of the pillared temple that still exists today began in 1920 and the opening of the Parthenon Nashville took place on May 21, 1931.
This building is equipped with an art exhibition declared as a museum. The crowning glory of this hodgepodge of Greek mythology is the depiction of the temple complex’s namesake, the larger-than-life statue of the Greek “goddess” Athena. She was considered the “goddess” of wisdom and war.
Performances are repeatedly held at this location, the actions of which are based on the stories about the ancient Greek “deities”. This was also the case in 1913 or 1914, when the model building complex still consisted of wood, plaster and bricks.
Two historical examples
A solar eclipse, as random as it may seem, also played a role in ancient events. Events that were also announced in advance in the Old Testament.
Lunar eclipse 331 BC
In the Book of Daniel, Chapter 8, it was described as early as 550 BC that the Medo-Persian Empire would one day be conquered by the Greek Empire. This actually happened. On September 20, 331 BC, the decisive battle near Gaugamela took place between the Persian king Darius III and the Greek conqueror Alexander the Great. The Persians were crushed, the Greek Empire was established, and the prophecy written by Daniel around 220 years earlier was fulfilled. This battle was accompanied by the so-called “Night of the Blood-Red Moon”. The night before the battle, the moon darkened due to a lunar eclipse. A favorable sign for the Hellenistic astrologers Alexander the Great and a demoralizing “evil omen” for the Persians.
Solar eclipse over Nineveh
The prophet Jonah warned the people of Nineveh that they would surely perish through destruction if they did not abandon their previous path of idolatry. This happened about midway through the reign of Israel’s King Jeroboam II (786 to 746 BC). Apparently Jonah received strong support with his warning message. At the same time, the so-called Bur Sagale eclipse occurred over the city of Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.
The Assyrian culture viewed solar eclipses as a omen of destruction. Since there was relative chaos in the Assyrian Empire at that time and uprisings, plagues and famines were breaking out, the solar eclipse that occurred during Jonah’s warning message certainly provided a good reinforcement (Source).
God’s intervention is never entirely surprising
How can the Bible believer recognize whether it is an intervention or judgment from God or a destruction of the adversary? God himself gave a clear explanation of this in Amos 3:7:
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.“
In this way, one can ensure that any intervention by God in the form of a criminal judgment is announced in advance. As a warning or a “final deadline” for insight, knowledge, repentance, or escape. Whether the announcement of one of God’s “servants and prophets” is believed depends on the listener. If the person knows the Scripture and what is announced in it, then it stands to reason that any warnings that also correspond to the descriptions of the Gospel should actually be taken seriously.
Examples of God’s Warnings
A popular example is the flood, which people were warned about for 120 years (in vain). The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (and surrounding cities) did not come without warning. Jonah warned the people of Nineveh. In principle, the numerous prophets of God in the Old Testament were constantly busy warning the people who had fallen away from God, including about the impending consequences.
The destruction of northern Israel by the Assyrians and the overrun of Jerusalem by the Babylonians all came with prior announcement. Therefore, people can be sure that they have been warned about the occurrence of such a catastrophe. Whether he takes this hint seriously or scoffs at it is a voluntary decision.
It is therefore possible (in retrospect) to distinguish between the nature of a catastrophe that has occurred. God announces His actions, but the adversary does not. God sets limits on the adversary and his actions (example: Job), but the willful destroyer of God’s creation doesn’t even think about warning anyone in advance. For what? Satan’s motive is to create misery and suffering and especially the perishing of every human being. He will one day drop even his most loyal helpers and accomplices like hot potatoes.
Announced warnings about the end of time
According to the Bible, prophetic warnings are not exclusive to the Old Testament. In Acts it is announced that there will be prophecies again at the end of time, as in Acts 2:17-21:
“ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.“
Jesus Christ was asked to perform signs and wonders by His greatest opponents of His time, the Pharisees. However, Jesus replied according to Matthew 16:4:
“A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.“
Jonah preached the warning words of God to the people of Nineveh and was accompanied by a solar eclipse.
I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
