The “Antichrist” is getting more attention. A figure that is supposed to appear at the end of time. However, the fact that this figure has been causing mischief for many centuries is completely overlooked. Therefore, it seems particularly strange when the narrator about the Antichrist is a representative of the Roman Catholic Church.

Catholic church representative describes Antichrist
When representatives of the Roman Catholic Church deal with the “Antichrist,” things get particularly interesting. Because if someone treats a topic as someone who is supposedly external, but in which they themselves are the focus, then things get exciting. The Catholic “specialist magazine Catholic Answers” has dealt with the “Antichrist” and defines this “one” Antichrist as the Antichrists in a plurality (Source).
Catechism as a guide
How could it be otherwise? The author of this Catholic Enlightenment refers right at the beginning to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. He cites Canon 675-676:
“675: Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers . . . a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.“
“676: The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment.“
Accordingly, the Catholic Church will finally be subjected to an examination. An “Antichrist” will appear who will exploit the “mystery of wickedness” within humanity and act as a false messiah. This “Antichrist” glorifies himself instead of God and the “Messiah who came in the flesh.” The church itself rejects “millennialism”. This means that such a 1000-year empire will not take place.
First appearance in the Garden of Eden
The author explains the “spirit of the devil”, which already appeared in the Garden of Eden. The devil tempted Adam and Eve to fulfill God’s promises in their own lives and to share in God’s image and likeness.
What the author describes here are the seductive lies of Satan acting through a serpent. The adversary doubted God’s commandment not to eat from the tree of knowledge and portrayed God as a liar. Instead of dying if God’s commandment was ignored, man would “be like God” and would be able to distinguish between good and evil don’t die, according to the snake lie.
It is somewhat satirical that the author describes these lying temptations as the “spirit of the devil”, when exactly these lies are Satan’s official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. These three lies of the serpent are found in the same catechism from which the author draws.
Canon 366 describes the immortality of the soul
Canon 460 describes that Jesus came into this world to deify man
Canon 1730 describes the ability of people to distinguish between good and evil (own reason and morality)
The church knows that it is untruth
The special spice can be tasted in the fact that the Roman Catholic Church knows very well that the Bible has no information about an immortal soul or a soul that is separate from the body (Info).
This institution itself emphasizes this in its edition “New Catholic Encyclopedia”, Vol. 13. However, true to the motto, “We don’t care, we teach the opposite,” this church speaks of an immortal soul. Just like that snake in the Garden of Eden. More details about the serpent doctrines espoused by the Roman Church – (here).
Paul actually made it clear
The author of the Catholic “enlightenment magazine” highlights the passage 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12, which is also quoted in Canon 675. In it the Antichrist is described as a person who will have all the power and deception of the devil himself. He tries to deceive people so that they believe that he is something that he is not. Ultimately, this Antichrist will claim to be God himself and only the coming of the Lord will stop him from doing so. According to the author, Christ will defeat the Antichrist and throw him into hell.
The passage described contains particularly interesting statements. Once verses 3 and 4:
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God..”
And verses 6 and 7:
“And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.“
Something about the history of this church
The history of the Roman Catholic Church shows a marked apostasy from the gospel after the end of the 10-year persecution of Christians at the beginning of the 4th century. In 313, Emperor Constantine issued the “Edict of Milan” which recognized the religion of Christians. Just eight years later, Constantine introduced the Sunday law “in honor of the sun” in 321. Constantine himself was a supporter of Roman Mithraism and, in addition to the title “Pontifex Maximus”, also held the title “sol invictus” (invincible sun).
The Bishop of Rome supported the introduced legal observance of Sunday, since this was already considered “the Lord’s Day” by the “shepherds” of Rome (as well as in Alexandria). This was established on the church side at the Council of Nicaea in 325. This resulted in a strong mixing of Christianity with paganism (sun worship).
The second major spurt of continued apostasy from the gospel occurred beginning around 480. The Western Roman Empire collapsed after the resignation of the last emperor, Augustus Romulus, in 476. Western Rome split into 10 Germanic tribes. All pagans, strongly colored by the former legionnaires stationed in the occupied territories. The Bishop of Rome seized the opportunity. On the one hand, it was about catholicizing the pagans and, on the other hand, about expanding ecclesiastical and, in the absence of a Roman emperor, political power. A loyal henchman was found for this purpose.
Bishop of Rome expands power
The Merovingian and Frankish King Clovis. He subordinated himself to the Bishop of Rome, adopted the Catholic faith and made his powerful army available. Three princes of the Germanic tribes opposed the power of the Bishop of Rome. These were the Heruli, the Vandals and the Ostrogoths. The Bishop of Rome, with the help of Clovis’ army, waged war against each of these three rebellious people. All three tribes were wiped out. Lastly, the Ostrogoths with their final expulsion of the “remainders” from Rome. That was in the year 538.
The next major apostasy of the Roman Catholic Church from the Gospel was that the Germanic tribes could not be fully convinced of the Catholic faith of the time. But so that the hoped-for submission to the Bishop of Rome could be realized, they made generous compromises with the traditions and rituals of the pagans by incorporating them into their own church. It is therefore no surprise that much of Roman Catholic liturgy and teachings have their origins in paganism.
The apostasy took place long ago
Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians 2 has long since come to fruition. The “great falling away” took place long ago. Back then in the local area of the church and today in the anti-type on a global scale. The “son of inheritance” and “man of sin” described by Paul was still held back in the time of the apostles. This obstacle was none other than the dominant power of Imperial Rome. With the departure of the last emperor in 476, this obstacle was removed. The Bishop of Rome was able to “develop”.
What the author does not emphasize is Paul’s statement that the lawless one, i.e. the “Antichrist”, is “already at work”. That was in the first century, not sometime in the future. This Antichrist described was already active in the times of the apostles, but had no control because of the imperial power. The “Dark Ages” created by the Church of Rome confirms the fulfillment of Paul’s descriptions.
This Antichrist will pretend to be God and sit in God’s temple, Paul said. The Catholic author relates this to the supposed Antichrist of the future. It was the popes over the numerous centuries who described themselves as “representatives of Christ, representatives of the Son of God and as God on earth”. (Info). Pope Francis set such an example when he sat on the white throne, with two figures next to him, each representing cherubim, and four clerics (living beings) around him. The very scene that is depicted in the Bible as a metaphor for God’s throne.
The “ecclesiastical millennium”
The fact that the Roman Church, according to its catechism, rejects the millennium as a doctrine of faith is merely significant. The millennium, a period of 1000 years, is clearly described in the Bible, in the book of Revelation 20. Verbatim, Revelation 20:2-3:
“And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.“
There is also a description of what will take place during these 1000 years, verse 4:
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.“
In total, Revelation 20 contains a description of the 1000 years six times. But the Catholic Church claims: “There is no such thing.” The reason is trivial. In its pervasive “modesty,” this institution describes itself as the Kingdom of Christ. The reign or presence of the church is this millennium. It’s already gone into extra time, but it doesn’t matter.
This millennium will happen. However, as is often mistakenly assumed, not as a kingdom of peace on earth, but as a period of a completely devastated earth while the redeemed are in the kingdom of heaven (Info).
Pseudo-messiah definitely to be expected
It is entirely possible, even likely, that a figure claiming to be the Messiah will appear. In this case, the Roman Catholic Church identified him as “the one Antichrist.” Others, especially evangelicals, are inclined to blindly follow this Messiah to the left. Before that, however, according to their believed doctrine of Futurism, an explicit Antichrist would first have to appear. Before that, a “secret rapture” of the church (Info).
This is all pretty confusing. Who else should know about it? This hopeless mess is definitely intentional. Where there is no clarity, you can tell people completely different stories. It’s not for nothing that Babylon is a euphemism for “confusion.” But the case of the “future Antichrist”, whoever this may be and whatever he may do, can also be awaited with great calm.
All you need to know is what the Bible describes about the return of Jesus Christ. If any (pseudo) messiah sets foot on earth, then it can already be recognized as a fake. Jesus Christ will not even set His little toe on the earth when He returns. Some descriptions in the Bible about the manner of the return of Jesus Christ – here.
Strategy “Stop the Thief”
The descriptions of the Bible, especially the details in the book of Daniel and in Revelation, provide – as they say today – overwhelming evidence that the Antichrist, or the anti-Christian system, is the papacy, consisting of church and state Power – Details here. The strategies of this apostate church include creating shambles, total confusion and suppression of the truth.
Therefore, it seems particularly interesting when a representative of this institution, which has long been identified as the Antichrist (Info), himself raves about an imaginary Antichrist in the future. Learning the truth about how things will really work out and who and what to beware of is all found in the Bible. Just pick it up and start reading.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
