Pope declares “Feeding the 5,000” according to social teaching

Pope Francis once again gave his view of the Gospel during Sunday’s Angelus in Rome. The theme his team chose was “Feeding the 5,000.” The pontiff simply interpreted the meaning of this report according to Catholic social teaching.

A new interpretation of the “Feeding of the 5000”

The pontiff had chosen the theme “Feeding the 5,000” for his regular Angelus, the Sunday address in St. Peter’s Square. An event during the journey of Jesus Christ and His disciples where around 5000 men gathered to listen to the words of Jesus. The account can be found in John 6:1-15, Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44 and Luke 9:10-17.

Bread
Not just any bread

As is part of hospitality, everyone present should be given something to eat. But neither their own supplies nor the money available were even remotely sufficient to provide all of the 5,000 or so people present with something to eat. Only 5 barley loaves and 2 fish were available “quickly”, John 6:9:
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

The disciples were troubled, but not Jesus Christ, Luke 9:16-17:
Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Only 5 barley loaves and 2 fish were available, but all 5,000 men, divided into groups of 50 each (Luke 9:14), were fed. In the end there were even 12 baskets full of bread left over.

The papal interpretation

Pope Francis explained this account of the Feeding of the 5,000 (Source) as the demonstration of two gestures.

The “first gesture”

The first gesture was a demonstration of “giving something good”, even when what one has seems too little compared to what is needed.

Francis
Francis told something again

Giving something that seems small is also emphasized at the Mass, said Francis. The priest offers bread and wine on the altar “and everyone offers himself – his life”. Given the “immeasurable needs of the people,” this gesture may seem small, like these five loaves of bread and two fish for thousands. This material is made by God into the greatest miracle there is, said Francis, “the miracle in which he makes himself present in our midst, for the salvation of the world.”

The “second gesture”

According to Pope Francis, the second gesture is thanksgiving. While the first gesture is offering, the second gesture is to thank the Lord with humility and joy. Everyone could also add to ask themselves what they can give to the Lord, no matter how small. “I love you” is a gesture of gratitude. This love must be given to the Lord, “and the Lord will accept it. Offer it, give thanks and share.”

“Eucharistie” wieder einmal dabei

Bread also played an important role in the Lord’s Supper, but a connection with the “Feeding of the 5,000” apparently only existed in the head of the Jesuit pontiff. People wondered where the fish were at the fair. In any case, the Jesuit brotherhood does not take the Bible’s account at face value. This is demonstrated by a similar post by the “Jesuits in Central Europe” on social media. It says: “Jesus is said to have fed 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. Whether that was the case? We don’t know.”

The ritual explained by the Pontiff, the presentation of bread and wine on the altar, is only half the story. The believer receives the bread in the form of a thin slice of biscuit, and the priest keeps the wine, which symbolized the blood of Jesus Christ, for himself. It is crystal clear in the Gospel in Hebrews 9:22:
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Only priest enjoys the wine

The priest can “get drunk” during this pagan sacrificial ritual, while the believers have no opportunity at all to ever experience forgiveness through the symbolized blood of Christ. Instead, believers must eat the literal “body of Christ” in a cannibalistic manner (Info).

The spirit of the common good

Francis also connects the constant sacrifice of Jesus Christ by the “God-like” priest with the second gesture (description of the sacrificial process by a priest – Info). At its core, the second gesture also consists of the philosophies of the Roman Catholic Church. The “social justice in a united human family for the common good” according to social doctrine shines through powerfully. This “Christianity” advocated by the Pope could also be expressed as, “Give everything until you have nothing left, but you will still be happy.”

Papal Story Time

The account of the “Feeding of the 5,000” has some details that suggest a completely different message than the story that the Jesuit Pope, head of the “Holy See,” wants to tell humanity.

Gospel study
Bible tells different things than the church of Rome

The breads are not whole grain breads, salt dough pretzels and spelled slices, but barley breads. Five in number. Nor are there eight, three or a bucket full of fish, but two. In the end, not everything is eaten, but there are exactly twelve baskets of leftover bread left. The Bible is not a novel. This should actually also be clear to the minds of the Roman Church. It is the word of God, which says that one does not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word of God (Matthew 4:4; Deuteronomy 8:3).

All aspects that the pontiff did not even begin to take into account, which is not surprising. His own fairy tale superimposed on it does not match the details given in the Gospel.

The Bread – Word of God – Gospel

Man lives from EVERY word of God and that would have been the appropriate keyword for “Feeding the 5000”. Jesus Christ is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13). Jesus Christ is also the living bread of this world (symbolically, of course, John 6:51). Jesus Christ has numerous names that describe His character, position and work (Info).

Even in the tabernacle there were 12 loaves of bread (Info). This automatically makes sense that the bread symbolizes Jesus Christ, his word, i.e. the gospel.

Barley bread – early harvest

After the first sowing everything is still fresh

The fact that it is barley bread is not a coincidence. Barley was the first grain harvest of the year, the early harvest. The Moabite Ruth met her future husband Boaz in Bethlehem at the time of the barley harvest (Ruth 1:22; Ruth 2:1). Ruth and Boaz belong to the ancestral line of Jesus Christ. The first fruits harvest of barley was also considered consecrated to God (Festival of the First Fruits, Reshit Katzir)..

Barley, or the early harvest, always means a beginning of something, the beginning. The counterpart to this, i.e. the conclusion or the end, is the wheat harvest.

Five barley loaves

Just as nothing else in the Gospel can be attributed to the stylistic device and the colorful design, the number of five loaves is also not arbitrary.

The following is an “interpretation variant” from the direction of the Jewish communities. The number of five loaves of bread refers to the first five books of Moses, then as now also called the Torah in Jewish communities. The so-called five books of law. Also noticeable are five rams and five goats as sacrifices in Numbers, Chapter 7. However, the sacrifices within the framework of the ceremonial laws were already a “discontinued model” with the appearance of Jesus Christ.

In the context of feeding the people, it is rather true that the number five applies to the remaining years of famine, when the family of Joseph, who was sold to Egypt, also arrived in Egypt. There remain “five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest” (Genesis 45:6), but “God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.” (Genesis 45:7).

Joseph is a type of Jesus Christ. He was betrayed and sold by his own brothers. Joseph was enslaved, falsely accused, and imprisoned. After Joseph, interpreting the dream of Pharaoh, this Egypt King called on to gather supplies, the famine broke out. Joseph’s brothers wanted to buy food in Egypt and met Joseph, whom they did not recognize.

He had already become the second highest man in Egypt. He tested his brothers to see whether they still had evil characters. When he was satisfied that his brothers had left their evil behind them, he revealed himself to them. The entire family of Jacob (Israel) came to save Egypt during the famine. They were taken care of.

The five “single, lean” loaves of bread, the five years of famine, but with salvation through the multiplication of these loaves for all people present.

Two fish

Fisherman
There were only 2 fish

The fact that fish and not “chicken breast” were used can be explained by Jesus Christ’s request to Simon Peter and his brother Andrew, both professional fishermen, that they should set out to follow Him. They are to become “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). The fish is still considered a symbol of (early) Christianity today.

As with the barley breads, the number of fish, two, was no coincidence. Two witnesses appear in Revelation 11 (Info). Both represent (symbolically) Moses (the law) and Elijah (the prophecy), in turn God’s will and God’s word, the gospel. Two olive trees are described in Zechariah 4:3. Both in turn stand at this point (also) for the word of God, which went to Zerubbabel in this situation. Just a few verses further (verse 11) two olive tree branches are described. Zechariah 4:14:
Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

The oil represents the Holy Spirit, who represents the word and will of God. The “two sons” as well as the “two witnesses” are about the law and prophecy of God.

The two fishes in the “Feeding of the 5000” represent exactly the same thing. “Men fish” with the teaching of the laws (will) of God and prophecy for the salvation of people.

Summary of meaning

With the 5 barley loaves and the 2 fish to “feed the 5,000” it is the beginning of the spread of the Word of God to a humanity starved of truth. The gospel or knowledge and also acceptance will increase, just as God did for the loaves and the fishes. People are fed with the Word of God and (whoever accepts it) are also saved.

At the end you even have barley bread left over. As luck would have it, exactly twelve baskets full. A representation of the 12 apostles who will continue to carry or distribute the word of God into the world.

Barley is passé – Wheat is ripe

Original wheat
At the beginning there is barley. Finally comes wheat

The “time of barley” is long gone. The wheat is now about to be harvested. The wheat (represents God’s people) has grown tall and with it the tares (represents paganism, idolatry). Both grow side by side, Matthew 13:30:
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

A scene that is also announced as the final act for the End of Days. The harvest comes because the fruit is “overripe,” Revelation 14:15:
And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

Pontifex has no interest in truth

The difference in the statement of “feeding the 5,000” between the Gospel and the “papal (Jesuit) interpretation” is huge. Not even close.

What was the first word spoken by Jesus Christ at the beginning of His ministry after His baptism and the 40 days of Lent? “Repent!” (Matthew 3:2)

What good is the “all-loving, cuddly course gospel” spread by the pontiff and his successors, where everyone falls on each other’s necks in adoration, if people are still in their sins, don’t even recognize them and continue to live in them? These will still be lost despite having rainbow-decorated, rose-colored unicorn glasses on your nose, because Matthew 7:21:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

The Gospel of Law and Prophecy presented as bread, the Word of God, explains exactly what the will of the Father in Heaven is. A fact that the regular Sunday Angelus storyteller tries to prevent by every possible means (Info).

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1 John 5:10
