Pope Leo XIV laid out the broad outlines of his “government program.” He informed his cardinals of the path to be taken and continued. The goal, however, remains unchanged.

Leo XIV set the first cornerstones
What was suspected seems to be confirmed (Info). The new Pope chose the name Leo XIV primarily because he wants to follow in the footsteps of Leo XIII. In his first address to the College of Cardinals (May 10, 2025 – Source), Leo XIV laid the first cornerstones for his still young pontificate.
In the Footsteps of Leo XIII
The Pope particularly highlighted Leo XIII’s encyclical “Rerum Novarum” (1891), the first social encyclical of its kind. Pope Francis took up the idea of ”justice (for all), fraternity, and the common good” contained therein and continued or expanded it in his own encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” (2020).
Leo XIV also emphasized his desire to respond to developments in artificial intelligence in order to be able to respond to the expected “further industrial revolution.” Human dignity, justice, and work must be defended.
Vatican II Continuation
Pope Francis was a pope according to the Second Vatican Council. His successor announced in his address that he would allow the “universal Church” to continue on this path. Leo XIV again called for “full and common consent” for the direction taken. This applies primarily to the development of “popular piety” in its “most typical and inclusive forms.”
The goal always remained

This doesn’t exactly sound like a radical change of direction after Pope Francis, even though it might seem that way. In fact, Leo XIV affirms the “suspicion” of creating a synthesis between “liberalism” and “conservatism,” of working out an intersection. The goal of this Roman Church is and remains, ultimately, the restoration of papal power, as was the case politically until 1798 and “theologically” until 1517.
In other words, the “Dark Ages” translated into the (post-)modern era. This is packaged in a melodious humanism, disguised as Christianity (Info).
It will probably not be long before the “Northern King” hears rumors from the east and north and reacts accordingly angrily (Daniel 11:44).
And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
