Pope tells his dreams
Shortly before the second session of the World Synod on Synodality, Pope Francis declared on Tuesday that the Church belongs to sinners who seek forgiveness. “We are here as petitioners for the Father’s mercy. The Church is always the Church of the poor in spirit and of sinners who ask for forgiveness,” the Pope said (Source).

The “Holy Church” as a sacrament
With this position, the pontiff spoke to the church’s self-image as a sacrament. “Extra ecclesiam nulla salus” (“There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church”), says one of her self-portraits. The Church of Rome claims to be the successor to Peter, “the first pope”, and thus to act in an apostolic sense. It is the “mystical body of Christ”, i.e. the church and its protected flock.

No collective salvation
