The beloved concept of purgatory wants to be defended by the Roman Catholic Church. There is evidence of such a place in the Bible. However, this requires bending of Bible texts, which cause pain just to read.

Purgatory – Fear & Business Sense
The fairy tale about Purgatory is obviously “sacred” to the Roman Catholic Church. Such an institution is wonderfully suited to keeping people in check through fear and anxiety and to underpin one’s asserted important position. Added to this is the multi-billion dollar business that enabled the Church of Rome to finance many pompous buildings. The most prominent example is the planned St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City during the time of Martin Luther and the chief indulgence salesman Johannes Tetzel under Pope Leo X.
Today, the financial aspect of the “selfless and merciful” distribution of indulgences can no longer be enforced. But the organization of mass indulgences as a reward for participation in any liturgical rituals, of course including participation in a blasphemous mass (Info).
The inventions of the Roman Church, which border on pure madness, can only be seen in the abolition of limbo for unbaptized children. Pope Benedict XVI (Ratzinger) simply abolished this limbo. Simply because it was no longer considered contemporary and easy to convey. What does a “maximal pontiff” actually believe, who or what he actually represents?
Cramped Purgatory Defense
This Roman religious institution, which had completely fallen away in the 4th century, is still making efforts today to maintain the concept of purgatory. The Roman Catholic media club “catholic.com” tries to explain biblical evidence for purgatory, much to the self-invented annoyance of (annoying) Protestants (Source). Catholics who are attacked by these “heretics” regarding purgatory should respond with 1 Corinthians 3:11-15:
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
These are the Bible verses that prove purgatory. Because Paul describes a “saved Christian” who is purified by “fire” after death in a state of existence on the judgment day. This is neither heaven nor hell, so this must be purgatory, according to the Catholic interpretation. Paul also makes it clear that the depiction of the “burning” of wood, hay and straw represents suffering for sins.
Strong portion of Gnosticism
As further support for this purgatory thesis, the Catholic media slingshot uses translations of the Septuagint. There the Hebrew word “anash” is translated as a fine (Exodus 21:22; Deuteronomy 22:19; Proverbs 17:26) and used as a punishment for an evil deed (Proverbs 19:9; Proverbs 21:11; Proverbs 22:3). This shows that after committing bad deeds, people are prevented from receiving the “reward of heaven” and must first go through fire.
Therefore, according to the Catholic view, the statement in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 supports the cleansing of all moral stains remaining in the soul and the guilt of temporal punishment.
Contradictory and mendacious
One can immediately see that this purgatory concept of the Roman Catholic Church and the justification for it, in addition to the intimidation of people, is a construct for the declared denial of the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This historically proven old wives’ tale of this Roman institution, which was also enforced with violence, is simply based on another gigantic lie. Namely the invention of an immortal soul. The Church of Rome knows very well that the Bible says nothing about the immortal soul that leaves the body after a person dies.
The living person IS the soul. This church knows this and testifies to this through its own “New Catholic Encyclopedia”, volume 13, page 335 (“Soul”). But according to Catechism 366, the Papacy teaches the exact opposite (Info).
If man is indeed the soul through the dust of the earth and the breath of life of God (life breathed into him), then of course there cannot be a separate soul that could even go anywhere. So not into a (fictitious) purgatory. This means that the deceased person does not go directly to heaven and certainly not to hell (Info). Lazarus fell asleep, according to the words of Jesus Christ about the death of his friend (John 11:11-14).
Septuagint – An evil rot
To also refer to the Septuagint, which Jerome used as the main basis for his Latin Vulgate, is more than daring. A collection of additional Gnostic writings (apocrypha) and even corruptions of the Masoretic text (Info). A translation into Greek by Hellenistic scribes and only suitable as a doorstop or bottom liner for trash cans.
Completely misguided interpretation
The passage 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 in no way describes a purgatory somewhere. Only someone who has had their nose in incense for hours would think of something like that. Paul makes it clear that the foundation on which one has laid one’s faith can make a big difference.
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.” When the test comes, it turns out which building of faith remains standing, depending on the material it was made from. Another, similar metaphor is the house built, either on a solid foundation or just on sand. The next storm will make the difference clear.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, can support this unspeakable purgatory thesis of the Roman Catholic Church. A tradition that arose from those minds and continues to this day that have devoted themselves body and soul to the one who gave this “church” throne, power and authority (Info):
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies;
