Brazen theses about the gospel to mislead people

Verwirrung

Deutsch

Misleading through statements that mix truth and lies. A popular method that can directly lead astray people who are not completely sure of themselves and who want to approach belief in the gospel. Such theses are becoming more and more bold.

Wild theses on the way

The “misunderstandings” or even attempts to mislead people are becoming more and more subtle and bold. Supposedly abolished commandments of God (10 Commandments) due to the confusion between moral laws and actually abolished ceremonial laws (Satzungen – Info) could well be based on carelessness and “good faith”, but the following statement, which is doing the rounds on social media, definitely has a perfidious character:
We are saved by faith and not by confession. Anyone who confesses their sins is practicing false works righteousness

A typical mixture of truth and lies. It is true that man is saved through (true) faith, but this necessarily presupposes confession of sins. It is not an unconditional salvation according to a blanket outpouring across the broad plain. If the sins have not been confessed with sincere repentance and conversion in prayer to God, through Jesus Christ (no one else), then the person himself must answer for his sins. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Easily refuted

Holy Scripture
The Gospel – Only Guideline

However, such wild theses can be refuted quite easily with a few examples from the Gospel.

Psalm 32:5:
I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Proverbs 28:13:
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Romans 10:10:
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 John 1:9:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Justice and mercy

No one can become righteous simply by observing God’s 10 commandments. If you have sinned once, it is too late for you. The train has left. An act committed in this way cannot be undone or compensated for by many good works. You are condemned. If it weren’t for the self-sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who took sin upon himself and paid the price for it with death instead of the perpetrator.

In doing so, Jesus Christ bought for himself the right to pardon the sinner without leaving the path of righteousness. This justice of God, often overlooked and forgotten, lasts forever. The “feat” of mercy and justice (Info).

However, it is essential that the sinner confesses his sins, sincerely regrets them and refrains from committing them in the future.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:15
