In 2022, constant Bible translation will bring the gospel to millions more. Around 7.7 billion people worldwide can now read the Bible or parts of it in their mother tongue.

The gospel reaches more people

The translators did a great job. In 2022, the variety of the Bible already available in different languages was expanded by 57 additional languages. This gives around 100 million more people the opportunity to read the gospel in their mother tongue, according to the report by the German Bible Society. In total, translation projects for Bible scriptures in 81 languages were completed in 2022. This corresponds to around 723 million people reached. These numbers come from the United Bible Societis.

In the case of the Bible editions with each first translation into one language, 38 biblical individual writings, 14 complete Bible editions and 5 New Testaments were completed. The languages of the fully translated Bibles include Arsi Oromo and Hadiyya, among others. These are languages in the territory of Ethiopia, spoken by around 7 million people. A group of people in northern Vietnam is now also supplied with the Holy Scriptures. The “Tày” language is spoken by around 1.8 million people.

The Bible is currently available with at least one book in 3,610 different languages. The complete New Testament is available in 1,622 languages. The Bible Societies now reach almost 7.7 billion people worldwide.

However, there is still a long way to go if all languages are to be served. It is currently assumed that there are 7,386 different languages. This means that there are still no translations of any of the books of the Bible for almost 3,780 languages. The world association has set itself the goal of translating the Bible into an additional 1,200 languages by the year 2038.

The German Bible Society is a member of the World Union of Bible Societies. It has a total of 160 members and is represented in more than 184 countries and territories worldwide.

This is how the message can be conveyed

As the gospel spreads further in different languages, the promised comes closer. Because in Revelation 14:6 begins the introduction to the most important message at the time of the end:
“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,”. The message is as follows…
