Pastor injured, women and youth kidnapped
There has been a repeated attack on a Christian community in Nigeria. In this case, in a small village in the northwest of the country, a church was attacked on Sunday 15 January 23. There were injuries and kidnappings, as Christian Today reported.
During the service in the village of Dantsauri in the state of Katsina, armed assailants stormed the small church “New Life for All” and opened fire. The pastor present was shot in the hand while a group of people were abducted. The abductees are exclusively women and young people between the ages of 13 and 49. The number of worshipers abducted was given by local police, while those present said around 25 people had been abducted, with 9 able to break free and escape.
According to the Open Door organization, Nigeria is one of the countries with the most severe persecution of Christians in the world. At least 5,014 Christians were killed in Nigeria between October 2021 and September 2022. The worldwide persecution of Christians continues to increase.
