The law cannot be separated from God. The claim that God’s commandments have been abolished not only denies his existence, but also denies the true God of the Bible.

God’s laws from the beginning

The laws of God last forever. They were in effect long before the first word of the Old Testament was written down by Moses. Abraham already knew the laws because he gave the tithe of his income to the Lord. The statutes of God were passed down orally from generation to generation before Moses. With the Tablets of the Law on Mount Sinai, God wrote the 10 Commandments in stone with His finger.

A majority of evangelical churches teach that these commandments were fulfilled and thus abolished with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The commandments of God were therefore a “set of rules” of the Old Covenant. This was replaced by the New Covenant and the laws were also abolished.

A huge mistake

Code of law

God’s laws are simpler than is often claimed

However, claiming that laws have been abolished is a mistake that couldn’t be worse. Because without the law, sin no longer exists and without sin there would no longer be any need for God’s grace. So why is man dependent on the Lord’s grace for better or for worse if the law, the standard, no longer has any validity? If Jesus Christ actually abolished the law, then all people after Him would have virtual freedom from fools. No more law, no more transgression and therefore no more sin. But why still have grace? The claim that God’s laws are invalid is not only illogical but also quite ignorant.

There are three definitions of truth in the Bible (Info). The Word of God is the truth, Jesus Christ is the truth and the law is the truth. This also closes the circle that Jesus Christ is the Word of God and He is also the law.

But the latter has been “abolished”. This is absolutely incomprehensible. The Bible also contains a wealth of evidence that God’s laws are constant (Info).

It is often said that the entire Old Testament is no longer valid with the replacement of the Old Covenant and that the 10 Commandments are automatically eliminated. But this claim is also easy to refute, because all 10 commandments are also emphasized in one form in the New Testament (Info).

The law is inseparable from God

New Testament

The Old and New Testaments belong inseparably together

Love cannot be separated from God. But neither is justice. But this is all too often ignored in the numerous churches. Because justice needs a standard and this lies in the law. There cannot be justice without a standard, because then any decision in the sense of an alleged “justice” would only be pure arbitrariness.

For this reason, along with love and justice, the law cannot be separated from God (Info). Anyone who claims to believe in God but yet declares His laws to be invalid believes in some kind of God, but not in the God of the Bible.

How does someone who declares the laws of God abolished explain the following statement by Jesus Christ? Matthew 5:18:
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Either he has to describe the statement as an invention of the authors and that would not be far from his belief, or he declares Jesus Christ to be a liar.

“Do what you want”?

Confetti party

Do what you want? This won’t last forever.

It is obvious. God and His laws belong together.
The philosophy about “abolished commandments” ends in the idea that Jesus Christ took on all sins in order to abolish the laws and that every person can now do whatever they want. All you have to do is claim to believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
“Do what you want!” is the motto of Aleister Crowley (Satanist) and is therefore very close to the philosophy of abolished laws with unconditional grace according to the watering can principle.

And no! One cannot become righteous by keeping the laws. That would be works righteousness. But anyone who completely surrenders themselves and their life to our Lord Jesus Christ has the desire to keep the commandments and, thanks to God’s help, this will not be difficult. 1 John 5:3:

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
