A list of the meanings of the symbols in the book of Revelation.
An artificial cult has been created about the book of Revelation. Mystical symbolism and mysterious connections. But the “Book of Completion” is anything but mysterious and the many symbols and their meanings do not require any imaginative considerations. The answers can all be found in the Bible itself.
he book of Revelation, also called the “Apocalypse,” is a thoroughly prophetic book. From the first to the last chapter, the reader encounters a bevy of symbols and mystical-looking connections. Not surprisingly, the depictions in the book of Revelation are often misunderstood or misinterpreted. The latter even almost at will. As the introduction to Revelation itself explains, the author of this prophetic book is Jesus Christ himself. He is the author of the “Book of Consummation”, written by John during his time on the island of Patmos.
Could Jesus Christ have dictated something completely incomprehensible to humans through the Holy Spirit so that he could not understand the prophecy it contained for the period between the first Christian community and the new earth and new heaven? What would be the point in that?
“The Bible interprets itself” is a rule. Often misunderstood unintentionally or intentionally to defame. Of course, the Bible itself does not “speak” to express the symbols contained in Revelation in “plain language.” But where a symbol appears in Revelation, an explanation for that symbol can also be found elsewhere in the Bible.

If a “cup of wine” is described in one place, then the meaning of cup and wine is stated in another place in Scripture. Some explanations are contained in Revelation itself, others in the books of the Old Testament. Admittedly, Revelation should not be the first choice when starting to read the Bible for the first time. An example is the animals in Revelation 13. The significance of animals in prophecy can be found in Daniel chapter 7. In this specific case, an animal is a state, an empire, or a ruler within a political system.

Revelation is essential
Not surprisingly, the prevailing opinion is that revelation is actually unimportant or only concerns times long past. Other variants describe a prophetic interpretation of the symbols of revelation that cannot be reconciled with the actual content. Here again it is important to take the Bible into your own hands in order to read and understand it. “Test the spirits” is an important rule. This applies not only to our own inspirations, but also to what is preached from many podiums.
Jesus Christ gave the revelation that man can prepare himself not only over the centuries, but especially at the time of the end, for what lies ahead for humanity. For this purpose, it is also worthwhile to read Jesus Christ’s end-time speech carefully and repeatedly (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13). It may then dawn on some readers why the Roman Catholic Church kept the Bible as a whole and Revelation in particular under lock and key for centuries, or punished “illegal possession” of the Scripture with death (Info).
Bible explains revelation symbols itself
The following list shows the symbols that appear in Revelation and the corresponding passages that explain these symbols. Only in this way is it possible to correctly understand the prophecies of Revelation and to recognize even imaginative false interpretations as such. An example of symbolic interpretation deals with the “Whore of Babylon” in Revelation chapter 17 (Info).

And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it.
And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.
And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.
The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.
And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.“

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.“
Revelation 18:1-5:
“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done. Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters. When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them: That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them. When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.“
